  2. Can they try something other than a f***ing fastball away to LHB? Jesus try getting something else over the plate you tard Martin.
  3. Its all ********; trying to draw more female fans to the respective sports. I'm pretty sure the charity part is a scam too; I remember reading that there was a lot of profits being made by the people behind all these breast-cancer foundations.
  4. Bautista is 9th in the league in wRC+. He's 3rd in BB%. His contact and plate discipline metrics are all holding steady. He is still an elite hitter Encarnacion? There has been a CLEAR systematic decline in his contact and plate discipline metrics in each of the past three seasons. He's swinging at more pitches, making less contact with pitches in the zone, and swinging through more and more pitches. Its a tell-tale sign of impending decline. You can already see it at the plate in him: considerably more really poor at bats where he's flailing at bad pitches and getting beat inside the zone. He's not a guy who "takes care of his body"; I dont foresee a scenario wherein this guy is still a "good" DH in ~2 years.
  5. Also Ryan Borucki gave up 4 HR's.
  6. Francisco Rios is making some real noise down in Lansing. 5.2 IP, 3 H, 0 R, 1 BB, 9 K tonight. Puts his season totals to: 18.1 IP, 15 H, 0 R, 5 BB, 28 K
  7. EE looks like he is declining NOW; no way I give that guy 4 years $80+ million...are you serious? Bautista at least offers some sense of confidence with his high work ethic, dedication to his body, and elite eye at the plate.
  8. I've brought this up this past offseason: Edwin looks like he's clearly declining and will continue to do so. Look at these plate-discipline/batted-ball rates from the past 5 seasons: Swing %: 41.6% 41.9% 43.3% 44.1% 50.2% (this season) Contact in Strikezone %: 87% 90.3% 88.7% 85.2% 80.7% (this season) Contact %: 82.2% 84.6% 82.3% 78.4% 72.7% (this season) Whiff %: 7.2% 6.3% 7.6% 9.3% 13.3% (this season) He is swinging more, making less contact in general, and swinging through more pitches. The last 2-3 years the decline has been obvious. He's going to really fall apart in the next year or 2.
  9. 3 swinging strikes in that one at-bat for Estrada.... ...4 swinging strikes for the whole game for Stroman last night.
  10. Angel Perdomo with a game so far for Lansing: 5 IP, 1 H, 1 ER, 2 BB, 9 K
  11. They did use the statistic in positively analyzing the JA Happ signing this past offseason (compared to guys like Leake, Samardzija, Cueto). One of the takeaways they uncovered is that Happ is one of the rare pitcher's who's "stuff" has actually improved with age. So far this season, his "stuff" is actually even better than it was a year ago which may indeed be a sign for further positive expectation from him. He actually ranks second behind Sanchez to date. http://www.mikesonne.ca/baseball/let-it-happ-en/
  12. Aaron Sanchez ranks 11th in all of MLB among starters (and tops on the Jays) in a newly created "Stuff" metric which looks to quantify the age-old "stuff" term that commentators will routinely throw out. http://www.mikesonne.ca/baseball/who-has-the-best-stuff-in-baseball-volume-1/ I've been stating for a long time that regardless of his raw metrics (strikeouts, walks), Sanchez is a pitcher that will out-perform what he is "expected" to do for the mere fact that predictive formulas cant quantify how hard it is to actually hit his pitches. This new metric is a starting-point which may begin to finally quantify why he's able to minimize runs despite walking batters and not striking out as many as he "should".
  13. They picked 3 HS pitchers within the first 60 picks last year, one of whom was injured LOL.
  14. Any player can become an injury problem.
  15. Assignments are coming through. Alford, Greene, and SRF with conservative placings in Dunedin, Dunedin, and Lansing respectively. Tellez in New Hampshire. Shane Dawson also in New Hampshire. Dan Jansen made Dunedin, as did Tom Robson who I think can make a splash this season now that he's healthy again.
  16. I got a feeling that we f***ed up...
  17. He'd been hyped as a potential ~Top 5 pick before his injury. Not sure how you can conclude him as a "pitchability guy" when he had flashed clear plus stuff. Kiley McDaniel:
