  1. Please. He went WELL out of his way to put on his accounting cap to somehow try and bring Rogers' share prices into the forefront as a basis for why the team should have no problem just meeting his demand. That was well beyond stating that he wouldn't take a "hometown discount". It was a calculated attempt at playing fan emotions against ownership for his own gain. You think he doesn't know full well that fan-turmoil has been high after the entire AA and David Price sagas? He was trying to create a shitstorm, point and blank. Unfortunately for him, his demands are so absurd that the whole thing kind of blew up in his face. In reality, he just gave Shapiro an easy out to just letting him walk or trading him. Shapiro has already demonstrated his beliefs on resigning 35+ year old star players to long deals that almost surely won't work out in the team's favour. He probably didn't even want to resign Bautista long-term in the first place, but likely would have settled so as to not rile up the fanbase negatively.
  2. We drafted Jon Harris with that pick. The jury is still out on that one.
  3. You think he's the first mid 30's athlete to "take good care of his body"? Kobe Bryant, Steve Nash...there are lots of guys in several sports who looked like they were "defying age" until all of a sudden it hit them like a Mack truck. In most cases the "decline" is extremely sharp: all of a sudden they suck, just like you see now out of 37 year old Kobe Bryant. Bautista's power is largely generated by bat speed, which I seriously doubt he'll be able to maintain.
  4. This LOL. 90% of the fanbase doesn't even know who Saunders is. or Bruce for that matter.
  5. andrew krause ‏@akrausePG Brady Singer's first collegiate inning is of the 1-2-3 variety. Struck out first two. Very qk arm, pounding zone w/ 92-95 FB and 77-79 BB.
  6. Next time I'll draw a picture for the board retards who can't put two and two together. The f***ing title of the thread alone tells you everything you need to know you dipshit. Do you need me to hold your cock the next time you go take a piss too? If you seriously got "confused" by this thread, then God bless your soul. Gil Kim hired as Director, Player Development (new position)
  7. The first line said "he was the Director, International Scouting with the Rangers" ... I mean, with respect to the thread title, what the f*** is there to be confused about?
  8. What is odd about it? There was no official Blue Jays writeup when I was writing the thread so I used a clipping from his promotion with the Rangers to note his baseball history.
  9. He was the Director, International Scouting for the Texas Rangers. http://www.diariolibre.com/imagenes/2013/04/280469.jpg
  10. I wouldn't bring either back, seriously. Bautista is 35, and go take a look at Encarnacion's plate-discipline metrics (swing %, contact %, whiff %) over the past three years: he's regressing.
  11. The media here is such s***, no wonder all the sports teams are constant disappointments: the front office guys are probably closet alcoholics from being obliged to interact with these people. Got to love the token David Price question. I wished so badly that Atkins had responded with: "Dude, he pitched in 15 total games here."
  12. I can't be the only one that thinks that LaCava looks like a 60 year old Lesbian, right? Sorry Tony.
  13. LaCava doesn't even want to be the GM, it is so obvious. He's clearly happy being behind the scenes in the "Assistant GM" role. For Shapiro, there really isn't any benefit to waiting a year before finding a GM. Its obviously in his best interest to start reshaping his front office ASAP.
  14. Great logic! Excellent use of exclamation marks! A team would surely give up a pick to sign Mark Buehrle!
  15. Probably because paying Buehrle ~$16 million next season would be a horrendous waste of money.
  16. Surely AA had very little if anything to do with the drafting & signing of a 5th round pick.
  17. McCown is definitely known for his insider baseball information...../sarcasm.
  18. He absolutely was. Franklin Barreto as well,
  19. The story? He was very good at his job. Big, big loss here.
  20. ...through strategies that are now no longer possible. I don't understand why people just assume that we'll be able to rebuild the system in 1-2 drafts (like before) when we can no longer go out and acquire multiple picks and accumulate large bonus pools. The very nature of fielding a winning team means that we will now not only draft near the bottom, but we'll also have among the smallest allocated bonus pools. Just look at how our most recent draft turned out with no extra picks and no extra money allocated to our bonus pool: only a couple of guys look legitimately interesting, and I'm not sure how many of those (if any) have actual impact upside. We did however continue our tradition of botching a top selection on a kid that didn't end up signing, which means that our haul this year ranks in the bottom half league wide.
