  1. Jace Bohrofen just hit his 3rd HR in 3 games in Dunedin.
  2. What!? Cubs pulled Steele after 84 pitches and 5 innings?!
  3. I love how he conveniently tries to dance around the fact that Gurriel hit a whopping 5 HR's in those 121 games LMAO. Had to go back to 2021 to bring up his stats
  4. That is fWAR. Baseball Reference has his WAR at only 0.7 (Bassitt is at 1.1 bWAR for comparison). Massive massive discrepancy there. Anyone know what it is about his profile that makes Fangraphs love him in their formula? It's not like his peripherals are mind-blowing (7.49 K/9 to 2.79 BB/9). In this case bWAR seems to be more reasonable for a pitcher sitting right under 5.00 ERA.
  5. He has two seasons of ~100-105 wRC+ hitting. He's been floating around 70-75 wRC+ this season. Go look at his AAA and AA hitting numbers. It's not a massive stretch to see him getting hot and normalizing closer to his career average, which isn't even a huge mountain in the first place (Kirk went from ~80 wRC+ to 100 in like two weeks). The whole point was that it seemed odd to conclude that he was toast for the rest of the season while he was in the middle of noticeably better hitting.
  6. You need to learn to read a bit better. The only reason why I brought up Varsho's hitting over the previous 7-games was to directly respond to the statement that Varsho is a lost-cause for the rest of the reason. You actually have no idea when a player can/will break out of a slump, and when that statement was made he was actually putting together much better at-bats. I wasn't making any claim that him hitting .316 over seven games meant that his season struggles are a mirage. That is just you lying through your teeth. The point I was actually making is very clear and obvious.
  7. Vlad swings through a 90 mph meatball LMAO.
  8. Better pull him right now so he doesn't ruin the rest of the game IMO.
  9. It's a pointless statement because apart from maybe 2-3 teams in the league (like the Braves), every other team in the league will have had at least one stretch at some point in the season wherein they "underperformed their ability". There are teams currently behind the Jays in the standings who would have just as good a record (or better) if not for a bad stretch earlier in the season, so this logic doesn't only work in one direction. But it's only ever brought up from the perspective that it somehow doesn't apply to the teams behind the Jays as well. Did you guys know that from May 7th to June 8th the Red Sox went 10-18? If they managed to play even just 14-14 over that stretch, they would be sitting at 64-51 right now and one game back of the Jays. They were actually 21-16 on May 7th, and after June 8th they were 31-32. The Jays' season doesn't operate in a vacuum. "Coulda-shoulda" logic applies to everyone, hence it serves little actual value.
  10. The Jays are definitely the only team in the league that blew winnable games early. Everyone else just plays consistent baseball over 162 games and wins the games they should win. So for example if the Mariners just barely miss the playoffs, it most certainly won't be because of a stretch in the season wherein they lost games they shouldn't have.
  11. Adam Macko's last 3 starts. Might be showing some life: 14 IP, 9 H, 1 ER, 8 BB, 18 K
  12. Haha why don't you grow a brain? Varsho is the Ray Lewis of the best defensive team in baseball. So awful! If only we can be like the .500 D-Backs with Gurriel and his elite offense, we'd be going places!
  13. Fujinami tonight LMAO 0.2 IP, 3 BB, 3 ER, 0 K ERA up to 8.13. Look at those dang Orioles, acquiring the same player as Hicks for nothing! Wow can you even believe it? I heard Fujinami broke the stadium gun he was throwing so hard tonight!
  14. Another great defensive win tonight spearheaded by the elite defense of Varsho roaming around CF like a heat seeking missile! How mad are you right now?
  15. The point is that you would be crying like a little baby if they traded for Pham and he hit like that over this sample size LOL. Waaah waaah THE LINEUP! Make them hit more!
  16. 20. Fernando Perez, RHP, Blue Jays Team: FCL Blue Jays (Florida Complex) Age: 19 Why He’s Here: 1-0, 0.00, 7 IP, 0 H, 0 R, 0 ER, 1 BB, 6 SO, 0 HR The Scoop: On Monday Perez pitched seven hitless innings to combine with two other pitchers to record a nine-inning no-hitter for the FCL Blue Jays. Perez pitched seven of the nine innings, shutting down the FCL Phillies lineup, which featured 2023 first-round pick Aidan Miller. Perez struck out six, allowing only one player to reach base over his seven frames. Perez is a strike-thrower with a ton of upside. He mixes four-seam and two-seam variations of his fastball, which sits 92-94 mph and touches 96 mph at peak. He also uses a fringe slider and an average changeup. Everything plays up due to his plus control and ability to pound the zone. He’s a potential breakout name to follow in the Blue Jays system. (GP)
  17. I think the logic was that Cleveland is arguably the worst team in the league against LHP, so they were hoping to steal a "rest day" with Kikuchi on the mound. Cleveland ended up only getting 3 hits to our 9, so this actually would have worked - but of course two of their hits ended up producing a run whereas Springer took strike 3 with the bases loaded.
  18. These are his splits since returning back to AAA from his call-up earlier this year (doesn't include today's game): 151 PA, .375/.490/.625, 180 wRC+, 7 HR, 17.2 BB%, 12.6 K%, .250 ISO Is it a fluke? Who knows, but his overall offensive package is enough to give him a real shot to test the theory. It's entirely possible that he is growing into his power and it is starting to emerge.
  19. Spencer Horwitz 3 for 3 with 2 doubles so far today. Last one was a 100.3 EV line drive. Getting kinda comical right now.
  20. What bat would have made an actual difference that someone like Schneider can't replicate? Tommy Pham is sporting a 13 wRC+ since being traded. Teoscar Hernandez has a 48 wRC+ in the second half of this season - he's not an upgrade at all. The Cubs didn't sell and are in playoff contention so talking about Bellinger is pointless. Why is Varsho a lost cause? He is hitting .316 over his past 7 games with only 3 strikeouts. His plate appearances are considerably improved.
  21. Exit velocities tonight: 108.7 - Barger (Single) 107.8 - Horwitz (HR) 105.9 - Barger (GIDP) 103.9 - Barger (Single) 100.9 - Horwitz (Groundout) 100.4 - Martinez (Single) 99.9 - Martinez (Single) 97.1 - Horwitz (HR) Barger is an absolute unit. Legit three more bats in AAA likely ready next season.
  22. In Buffalo tonight... Horwitz: 2 for 3, 2 HR, 1 BB (LOL - OPS up to .933) Martinez: 3 for 4, 2B Barger: 3 for 4
  23. Fujinami is not even close to Hicks you tard. Neither is Pearson. Ten seconds on Statcast will show that to you. Fujinami (and Pearson) both get squared up and hit HARD with ease. Hicks is the complete opposite (93rd percentile average exit velocity, 95th percentile barrel percentage, 98th percentile xSLG).
