  1. Glad the team got this one with Madbum tomorrow. He's a toughie regardless of how hot or cold the hitters are. I'll still take the Jays tomorrow though. Stroman's not Madbum, but after seeing these Giants hitters this series it probably doesn't matter. Probably the most anemic offense we've seen so far this year.
  2. Troy is the man tonight. Good to see.
  3. This team is just handing entire innings to the opposition at this point. Brutal ABs by almost everyone.
  4. Everyone but Donaldson is doing their best impressions of Chris Davis 2014.
  5. I was talking to my girlfriend about the psychological development of dad humour the other day. When do men start doing it? I think it's around the same age most people decide watching Netflix at home in pajamas and falling asleep by 11 is more fun than going out to bars and drinking all night. I'm open to other perspectives though.
  6. Bizarre night in the OF between that play and Saunders in the 7th.
  7. This team has been undone by the most garbage s*** this season. Are you kidding. The wheels just randomly fly off way too often.
  8. Eddy is so strong. Didn't even look like a no doubter but he just cavemanned it out.
  9. Bases loaded with fewer than two outs is a huge opportunity. Troy was literally an automatic out there. Can't even rely on him to swing the bat, let alone dump a flyball somewhere.
  10. I didn't notice him warming, but at least he's not injured. Even so, Girodo is on the team for a reason. If Storen had shown any ability to be lights-out then absolutely use Storen. But we have a "loogy" in Girodo and a premiere (but struggling) lefty in Cecil. Utley and Seager aren't exactly 9-slot scrubs either. I get the impression that Gibby is trying to protect Cecil from any opportunity in which he can blow another game, but there are only so many tools in the shed. Pretty sure everyone watching Storen jog in from the pen knew the likelihood of maintaining the lead suddenly dropped. "Maybe the line drives will land in gloves," is what I thought.
  11. Caught the end of this one. Bullpen derping all over the place. Storen, who is terrible and who the Dodgers already had a nice healthy look at, comes in to face two lefties, then Osuna comes in to clean up the mess. Then Chavez comes in for the 9th and eventually faces a lefty, gives up a hit, and then is pulled for Girodo against... another lefty. Then Girodo is pulled for the righty Turner, who is followed up by the lefty Gonzalez. Was Gibbons even looking at the lineup card? Why are Cecil and Girodo even employed by the Blue Jays if you won't use either of them in a clean 8th inning in a 1-run game? Cecil's been skidding, but dude's got to earn his job back anyway. Like, even if Girodo has to face Kike Hernandez that's a better prospect than Storen vs. Utley & Seager.
  12. At some point he's probably not going to turn a corner in mid-season. The guy is ancient by baseball standards, so even with his relatively low-attrition techniques his ability is eventually going to end. Who knows when it will happen, though? I also hate the insistence on having to wait for a guy to find himself until mid-season, though. But I don't even really think he's been all that terrible. I mean, I hate watching his starts because I find those games to be low energy (all the wasted pitches, full counts, etc.) and totally frustrating (passed balls, wild pitches, random clusters of walks). Dunno, if I were in management I might try to line up his rotation spot against more SP4s and 5s. Might help mitigate the perception of him being absolutely terrible.
  13. Kike Hernandez looks like a 90s sitcom actor.
  14. You don't get credit for Thole's Ks, dude. No way.
  15. You make it so hard to dislike Dickey. Stop shaming me for my irrational hatred of watching him pitch.
  16. As soon as Gonzalez beat the shift I knew it was going south. Pretty sure you could set a watch by a Dickey/Thole implosion when that happens.
  17. Safe. Another circus in a Dickey start.
  18. Roberts making a BP call for Goins? All right.
