  1. A pint is on the table one day for anyone who can break this all down for me in an orderly, understandable way. This is fascinating to me from a psychological perspective.
  2. I don't know any of the old trolls. I just wait until someone points out that some poster is actually some ancient troll and x is his gimmick. Maybe someone can write up a spreadsheet.
  3. What kind of depth can salvage several star players slumping right out of the gate? You're not going to bench your starting DH, SS, and C for roleplayer depth. You're also not going to bench the struggling BP core either -- Cecil, Storen, Chavez (is Chavez struggling? Seems like he always gives up some noise). Depth is intended for backup when some guys are banged up. It's not a plan B for when the floor collapses.
  4. I don't expect Shatkins to bend over backwards to rescue AA's baby, but I think it's a bit silly to assume they want to lose so they can redecorate to their own tastes. You have to think any executive would be thrilled to luck into a one-year window with a core of Tulo-Jose-JD-Edwin-Martin. It's a chance to win it all and without too many lasting contracts. If the ship sinks they're not really on the hook and can move things forward according to their own plan. If the team makes another amazing run, everyone wins and they can still move forward with their own plan. And, TBH, I'm not sure why Gibby is so undesirable that you'd want to tank a whole f***in' season to get rid of the guy. I'll gladly accept his flaws (which do admittedly seem a bit egregious this year so far) for a 95-win club and a strong playoff run. Shatkins would prefer the team to win, because why would anyone want to fail or be the face of failure?
  5. @ Tampa next. Going to be a f***ing circus. I anticipate some pretty hard despair tbh.
  6. Who was the poster who went on a f***in' tirade when Tepera got optioned after being given a spot after the Morales signing?
  7. Holy s***, can no one in this pen get a clean out?
  8. Wow, Gibby just letting Marco have this. Alright.
  9. Agree. My girlfriend told me I was restless and mumbling in my sleep. "Pull... dat ball..."
  10. Dunno. Right side seems consistently loose.
  11. Not really comfortable with our BP tumbling through three more innings protecting a scoreless game.
  12. He was feeling up his shoulder a bit and had a sit down with the trainer.
  13. Ugh, another clumsy April. When's the last time the team had an enjoyable start to the year? 2010?
  14. What is an over reliance of them?
  15. I'd agree somewhat here. Can't really rely on insane streaks to make up the difference. I don't think 10-12 is much of a hole, but things need to step up before a huge tear becomes necessary. It's also just that it's really, really unfun to watch them lose in the way they've been losing. I care about the playoffs as much as everyone else, but sometimes I just want to enjoy a baseball game with the team I like. Games like Monday or the home opener are just three hours designed to piss you off.
  16. Based on what I wrote to burlington I'm not sure where we're disagreeing (outside of exactly how excited 2014 Stroman should have made fans).
  17. Well burl's post suggested fans hold him in too high esteem, but I don't think many do. If Stro wants to change his tactics it doesn't mean our enthusiasm for 2014 Stroman was "too high".
  18. I don't think people's expectations were too high. I'd argue they were (and are) reasonable for a pitcher of the skill level Stroman has already demonstrated. The problem is that he seems to be putting some of his unique skills off to the side and expects to still be getting the same results. This is to be expected when someone rigidly sticks to a sub-optimal game plan that invites luck in the door as much as possible. You only get to complain about BABIP if you make a reasonable effort to prevent the BIP.
  19. Like, the seventh is your last inning. At that point just blow guys away. Wonder if Gibby tells him the Sox aren't getting a fourth go at him, so Eaton is the cut off. Just K whoever is left. The same pitch to contact crowd probably wonder how the Royals singled their way to a World Series.
