  1. Pillar is the perfect role player. Also, mad respect to the guy for playing almost every single game. It's as if Gibby takes him for granted, forgetting he's not a machine.
  2. This was my least favourite of those 90s kid-friendly baseball movies. I was a much bigger fan of Rookie of the Year, Little Big League, and The Sandlot.
  3. There is nothing sexy about a jock strap, pal.
  4. I'm completely with you on this. This is exactly why posters need to realize this forum is not their f***ing basement and that they're not alone with their friends making jokes. The fastest way to insulate a community is to think of it this way. It's a professional baseball team's fan message board. Everyone from children to seniors could pop by to cheer on the team and they shouldn't have to sift through 4chan-esque snark before they decide to leave the site completely. (I'm not even absolving myself of this either. I know in my 2200 posts here that I've posted more than a few offensive jokes or unnecessary barbs. I really try to keep them under wraps though and I'd be a hypocrite if I got pissed for someone else calling me out on them, which has happened.) On the topic of being banned - regardless of whether or not I know the details of the exchanges that goes on between mods and regular posters, I am under the impression that more than once a poster has been banned for using the report option on a post a mod thought was overkill. Is this not what the report feature is for? Even if the reporter is a prude (not saying s/he is), s/he should have a right to report whatever they find offensive without actual action being taken against them.
  5. The problem isn't gone because the next obnoxious poster will come along, people will speak out, and then the people speaking out will get punished. Not everyone recognizes every poster here to ignore them, and new or potential posters will be put off on joining or contributing because of the excessive amount of trash posts they have to sift through. There's nothing wrong with people demanding better quality posts.
  6. Dunno if I agree with this. I mean no you can't play scared, I agree. But I don't think Gibby is playing scared. I think he's being pretty frugal with the health of his guys going into a tense post season. The regular season goal has been accomplished and as much as #1 seed would be desirable I think the health of the players is probably the bigger priority.
  7. Am I missing something? How have the Royals clinched anything? Even with a win tonight they are seeded behind Toronto by virtue of the tiebreaker rule. If you mean they've clinched their division, then yeah I get what you're saying.
  8. And I'm a terrible cook, to add insult. (in-salt?)
  9. Funny story: It was not until this post that I realized who Jonathan is. How do I even function
  10. In seriousness, these forum outbursts really need to stop. I really like this board and I am completely sincere when I say I'd be embarrassed to tell anyone I post here regularly right now. There really needs to be some reflection on how this place functions.
  11. A five page eruption of posters fighting about Trouba. Modhammer comes out, 3 good posters get banned. Trouba chilling in the Around Baseball thread cheering about the Twins being down 2-1. Remarkable.
  12. Trouba you are hands down one of the best trolls I've ever seen on any message board. If the Blue Jays were as good a baseball team as you are a troll, they'd be a lock for the World Series. And the Blue Jays are a really good baseball team.
  13. It's legitimately possible that some of the regulars were still blasted at game time this afternoon. It's probably a likelihood, actually.
  14. Yeah. The White Sox are pretty good at losing baseball games.
  15. Amazing that more people can't do the same. He barely even engages other posters when they talk to him directly. He's just a sounding board of anti-sentiment to get people riled up. Whenever a thread breaks into a blowout over his s*** he rarely has anything to say for himself. It's everyone else who uses up pages and pages bickering at each other. This speaks volumes.
  16. Ah. No, it was a semi-legit question. haha
  17. So did Camden Yards lose more money the last game of this series than the game that was played in an empty stadium because of the riot? At least then they didn't need to pay concession workers and keep all the amenities maintained.
  18. If yesterday wasn't a double header I think the Jays only punt one of these games. I understand why it was done but that doesn't mean it doesn't suck.
  19. There are at least two scenarios in which the ALDS will be Donaldson vs. Trout. Holy s***. And wow Chris Carter. Astros aren't dead yet.
  20. Wow okay so the Astros. This is ugly.
  21. AA looks like Hutch's chubby older brother who's good at business not sports.
  22. You could still get your wish. As long as they win a couple of games, the Texas-LA finale series should do enough attrition to those teams' standings that the Astros get in.
  23. This is honestly the best day to be a Blue Jays fan. When I was a kid in the mid-90s I had notebook after notebook of boxscores that I kept for the Jays every summer. I'm pretty much a lifer and this has been a long time coming. So pumped for the playoffs.
  24. There is beer swishing around Price's goggles.
