  1. Come on guys with this "on a losing trend" stuff. The Blue Jays are 3-1 on the road trip. The Bisons are 0-2. Osuna was shaky, but that just means Gibbons will be more fluid with the pen. It's what he should be doing in the postseason anyway.
  2. Going to be honest - as much as expanded playoffs make the regular season more exciting for a lot of clubs, I hate them in principle. 150+ games should be more than enough to determine who should see the big stage and who should go home. In baseball the Phillies can beat the Blue Jays on any given day. Baseball is like that. A 90+ win team shouldn't have to play an 83-win team in a do-or-die series. The 90+ win team has already proven themselves. At most there should be a league championship series (the CS) that determines the World Series contenders. All this divisional stuff is already too much. Then you have the Wild Card. Now we have the second Wild Card to balance out the stupidity of the concept of the first Wild Card. Yeah, I know I sound like a curmudgeon. I just hate tournament-styled playoffs like this. http://i.imgur.com/91sn32Q.jpg?fb
  3. I think 162 games is already a ridiculous number of games to play. Worse is MLB's tight scheduling that forces things like double headers and one-day make-up games on the other side of the country. Slice 15 or 20 games off the regular season and spread the rest out a bit. More off-days means more leniency means more health means better competition. 162 is a stupid arbitrary number to have to stick to like this.
  4. Maybe the second game of the DH - but after 155 games I think player health might be a bigger issue with two games on the same day. I wouldn't have been opposed to giving Dickey a longer leash and pinch hitting the A-squad late though. But no way should any regulars have played Thursday. Frankly no one should have. That day was an injury that luckily didn't happen. I don't blame Gibbons for making that call. Playing three games in two days was the problem. Gibby played it safe and we'd be calling for his head if he didn't and something bad happened.
  5. Jo Jo Reyes gets the win for throwing one pitch to Prince Fielder. One pitch that almost came back and took his head off and was only an out because of an exaggerated shift.
  6. Does he have no one left? Ohlendorf is hanging himself right now.
  7. Twins, Angels, Rangers, Do any of you want to play in the post-season? Yes or no will do.
  8. The Angels are sloppy, man. That non-play by Aybar was Reyes-like in effort.
  9. Love it. Hate the Angels.
  10. God I hate the Twins. Mediocrity defined.
  11. I'm not really sure the return for Pillar would be worth giving him up, unless of course he's packaged up with someone more desirable to another club. He fills a precise need for the Jays wonderfully.
  12. Anything that ensures at least a tie by the end of 162 will mean the Jays get no. 1 overall - so, yeah, 2 for Toronto. It could be decided by the end of tonight.
  13. If Trump gets in, the team name invents itself: Mexico City Bricklayers
  14. http://www.mlbtraderumors.com/2015/10/manfred-interested-in-mlb-expansion-to-mexico.html Manfred discusses possible franchises in Mexico and Canada, expanding the league to 32 teams, re-aligning the divisions, etc.
  15. Hendriks hasn't been very good? Tell me that my pro-Hendriks bias isn't deceiving me. I've seen nearly every game lately and I haven't noted him being particularly shaky.
  16. Not every outing, but many of them. Making those last outs against the O's should not have been that tough. I say take Buehrle. Should the worst happen and mop-up duties become necessary I absolutely don't want to burn our top relievers patching a game together.
  17. Guys it looks like everything is free on MLB.tv right now. I'm watching the Pirates-Reds right now. (This is of course for the cheap skates like me who won't even pay the $4 for unlimited final weekend subscription)
  18. Ugh. I really wanted to see Hamilton burn the Angels there.
  19. Look I can't just ram it all into one post here. I'm trying to build a body of work here.
  20. Not sure I'm comfortable with Cecil being the only dominant lefty in our pen if we match up against the Rangers, which is probably even the best case scenario. Choo, Fielder, Moreland, Hamilton...
  21. Bit nervous about this PPD game for the Yankees. Doubt MLB forces them to play it so they'll be pretty well rested for the wild card game. Keuchel probably won't be pitching for Houston either.
  22. Going to be honest. I kind of want to take up the mantle of filling in for Trouba in his absence.
  23. Real conversation: Me: He's right there. GF: Oh my god. Me: Should I quote lyrics...? GF: Are you serious.
  24. Won't happen. Only happened last weekend because I was in attendance. I've never not been an x-factor in anything.
  25. Another under-the-radar milestone I'm not sure anyone is following: scoring 900 runs in a season. Currently at 885.
