  1. What a bizarre turn for this otherwise light hearted discussion about the Tampa Bay Rays baseball team.
  2. They're a great organization. Just completely unfun to watch.
  3. Watching the Rays' offense is like watching a child shake pennies out of his piggy bank to buy an ice cream cone. Couple that with their cemetery of a ballpark and watching a Rays game is like being in purgatory. I respect their FO too but the team itself is anti-fun.
  4. They had Osuna prepped though. They knew what they were doing. They just didn't pull the trigger. OTOH, prepping your closer is a pretty common thing to do in 9th inning jams. It's entirely possible Osuna warmed because he's Osuna and not because of any kind of K over GB tactic they were cooking up.
  5. I've told bosses tons of times that some s*** we're going to do isn't a good idea. It doesn't really change much if the guy's already made up his mind, though. Actually, what I find interesting is the mound visit. Looked completely like Osuna was going to come in, but Gibby seemed to want Sanchez to convince him to not make that decision.
  6. Teheran stifled a mostly B-lineup for the Jays (compounded by the pitcher hitting). A couple of errors and bad bounces led to some runs. Buehrle wasn't terrible, but the defense pulled some huge DPs to help him out. A well-pitched game by Atlanta, regardless of their reputation and current skid.
  7. Yes he is. He's just not a robot. He's also the only guy who got a really good swat off Teheran. It wasn't just the defence that lost this game, guys. EDIT: So the post I'm responding to is deleted. Okay... Point stands, though. Smoak is a good defender who had a couple of shite bounces that burned the team.
  8. Here's something: Tonight's loss @ Braves is the first consecutive loss since August 14-15 v. Yankees (the Beltran HR and the game after).
  9. He wasn't bad. Unfortunately his both of his blips led to runs... Baseball!
  10. Agreed. More ways to get screwed but also more ways to get out of it.
  11. Cherry picking. What about his moves that have demonstrably contributed to several wins? Case: hitting Donaldson second. Not letting Gibs off the hook for tonight but at least be fair if we're tallying manager decisions and team wins.
  12. The risk is that the force play can force in a run. But on the other hand, sticking with your GB pitcher in a 2nd-3rd situation and hoping for a favourable ground ball makes a bit more sense when a tailor-made DP is possible.
  13. Agreed. I'm not ripping on Smoak, really. It was all just loopy and frustrating.
  14. Sanchez got kind of screwed by the Smoak play, but Osuna really should have come in to try and earn a contact-less out.
  15. I'd be more than happy to see a team like the Twins sidle into a Wild Card spot because of an Astros collapse.
  16. This is such an odd comment. Frankly wouldn't expect anything less from a threesome-having 12-year-old who hasn't learned correct space bar usage though.
  17. This thread: http://i.telegraph.co.uk/multimedia/archive/02075/nfl-pile-up_2075129i.jpg
  18. People keep discounting the Rangers like this. Am I missing something? They absolutely should not be taken this lightly.
  19. Orioles doing the Jays a lot of favours lately. Took 2/3 from the Yankees, now beating the Royals. Hopefully they can keep it up.
  20. I want to see all 30 too. Still 29 to go... Welcome to the board.
  21. I think you're right. I keep forgetting how few series are left. The Yankees don't have much wiggle room to rejig their rotation for their trip here in just over a week.
  22. Probably hard to say. Yankees will no doubt aim to get Tanaka and Pineda into the series any way they can.
  23. Local New Hampshire dive bars will miss his Deep Purple cover act too.
  24. I really want the Pirates to catch the Cardinals. Outside of the Jays hanging on to the East, that's what I most want in this year's standings. And gave up three more in top 10 to lose it. The Braves are an absolute train wreck. At this point it's between them and the Phillies for a number 1 pick.
  25. Are you a doctor? (not snark; actual question)
