  1. His .252 BABIP is far below is .308 career average though, it suggests his average will rise back up as variance plays its role and his numbers will likely level out. There were other cheaper OF options for the Jays at the time that they still passed on and the Happ for Saunders deal at this point f***ing sucks. Bottomline though Martin $ was much better spent than Melky $ under the circumstances.
  2. I guess this means Ned Yost goes down in history as only the 2nd manager in history to let his starting pitcher give up 11ER in 1 inning or fewer.
  3. Thanks - guess not on the movement factor but when he's throwing 96-97 he's getting whiffs compared to sitting at 94. Then again the 3 teams with those higher whiff rate games are TB, LAA, SEA. Coincidence or is it the velocity factor?
  4. Couldn't it be argued that his last 2 games he's thrown the ball harder, created more movement and resulted in more whiffs?
  5. Interesting, although still pretty vague. Everything seems to suggest they are hiding something from us and for good reason.
  6. If by intelligently you mean rehashing his season stats that didn't actually answer my question, then okay sorry for my stupid question... You're in a super-defensive mode right now like almost everyone in this thread even though I wasn't arguing he hasn't sucked this season. If anything, I was acknowledging it but the word sucks is a horrible, half disrespectful way to describe someone's performance when you badly want them to succeed as a Jays fan. Small improvements go practically unacknowledged on Sanchez from most in this thread because they don't affect his overall stat line very much while other homers take it as ace material. There has to be middle ground somewhere if and when he continues to throw well.
  7. Yes his season numbers suck, I'm not suggesting otherwise. It was a rather simple question, if the answer is not until his season numbers turn to average then just f***ing say that, Christ.
  8. The latter option means we're short a bench player. I think the throwing thing Buck mentioned was hearsay because Bautista said after that game something like "there is no update, there is no progress and when there is an update I will let you know." He sounded pissed off, as if he knows he can't throw worth s*** right now. I think the cortisone shot was a last ditch effort to try to avoid a DL stint and realistically that doesn't heal anything it just brings swelling down so there is less pain. It doesn't make anything heal. If they DL him with the full intention he will not return until he can throw 100%, then he will be gone a lot longer than 15 games. My personal thought is that they felt if they had put him on the DL when the injury happened he would have been sidelined for possibly months, but by playing DH it could actually allow it to heal a bit on its own to the point when they do DL him its only a 15 game stint. I feel like they are either riding it out as long as possible to make a shorter DL trip or milking out all of his offensive production they can knowing a DL trip would end in surgery or something significant, possibly season ending (torn rotator cuff or something)
  9. Serious question - how many starts of putting up average numbers as a 5th starter replacement does it take before one no longer sucks right now?
  10. Every team that's leading their division has the highest run differential within their division, except the AL East where that team is sitting in last place. Go Jays Go.
  11. I think the dividing line on Sanchez is ridiculous. You got a group that are overly hard on him saying by end of year he's a replacement level player at best and others who pump his tires like he's an ace in the making. I think what a lot of people forget is that he wasn't even suppose to be in the rotation this season and if you are dead set on laughing at Sanchez, making jokes about his competitive walks and so on, than go harp on AA for doing jackshit to fill the void after Stroman went down. Live with it because at the end of the day they won't be taking Sanchez out of the rotation unless he fails hard and struggles for a few starts in a row showing horrible results, keeping in mind your advanced results and their single minded results are two different things. Did they take Romero out after he went like 8-1 to start his disastrous season even though everything pointed to utter failure? No... the same GM let him ride it out all year long and gave him all 32 starts. I wouldn't expect anything different unless Sanchez is struggling and Norris continues to succeed and lower his own walk rate in Buffalo. That or a trade scenario. So stop harping on Sanchez and perhaps after he shows a good result we could at least say, "so that was promising start" by one of our top prospects instead of saying "Yea... BUT look at his 2012 numbers???". Just let it ride because this team isn't going to make a change and if he starts throwing more like this then really who gives a s*** anyway. I'm also partially hypocritical in all this I'm sure but I know I wanted him to succeed and have always hated the pure negativity this board pushes on him.
  12. His last 2 starts were also against the worst offensive teams in the AL. Mariners had 3 or 4 guys batting under .200.
  13. We have the best fans in the league.
  14. So... 25 of the 43 improved their walkrate who struggled throughout their minor league career... Curious, did those who improve their walkrate, also improve their k rate?
  15. Sanchez improving every start. It hasn't helped him when Gibby throws him back out late in games when he's gassed and the bp has to work with 2 on each time.
  16. More than half our lineup are not major league starting players.
