  1. Relying on Osuna / Sanchez / Hutchison in the rotation sounds just as risky as last year with Sanchez / Norris / Hutchison. Am I missing something? Not only will there be some failures between them, but there is also an issue of how many innings we can safely get from them. Losing 200 innings in Buehrle is a lot to make up for with young talent. The 3 of them should be fighting for 1 rotation spot in Spring. My preference would be Stroman/Estrada(or FA Pitcher)/FA Pitcher #2/Dickey/one of Osuna,Sanchez,Hutchison. The BP remains stronger, the SP has depth.
  2. The funny thing is, he put up a 3.3 fWAR season just 3 years ago with the Brewers in only 138 innings. He pitched more innings this year than last year because he had more starts but only had an equal WAR value at 1.8 with the highest xFIP of his career. He's a hard one to predict what he's worth, it'll be interesting to see what he gets.
  3. Do you guys assume Estrada would decline a qualifying offer?
  4. We could just sell them all and use Jesus Figueroa & Cliff Pennington.
  5. Travis shouldn't need a late inning defensive sub, but knowing that our SS & 2B are kind of... sort of... maybe made of glass he's a pretty damn good $500K back up who will get plenty of game time from rest days alone.
  6. He's an every day player for some teams while a great depth piece for competitive teams who have better mid infield options.
  7. There is also the personal catcher effect. That aside, his results will almost always beat out his predictions. I think its because his low BABIP is more sustainable than predictions presume. Pretty sure that throws everything out of whack.
  8. Goins / Travis / Tulo need to stay together, we aren't going to find a cheaper but better option at second base than Travis/Goins. That is about as good of mid infield trio that we could ask for and between nagging injuries and regular rests Goins will get plenty of play time and we won't lose much of a step compared to having to play Kawasaki for example. As for Dickey, they pretty much have to take his option. With so many holes in the rotation, $12MM is pretty fair market value for getting 200 innings and a 2 WAR back end starter for this team. I think the most difficult aspect with Dickey, isn't about knowing what you're going to get start to start, but just having that personal catcher available for him. I never believed Estrada needed Navarro, it was purely to give Martin his day off. (Estrada basically throws 2 pitches). I know I'm alone here but I wouldn't be against having Thole as the back up catcher while Martin focuses more on our young pitchers. That's kind of why we got him, to work with our younger pitchers and bring the best out of them like he's done throughout his career.
  9. I'm finally just now at the point where I can appreciate everything the Jays have done this season. It took me a while to calm down after Friday's game and not have my mind clouded from anger. I had a good weekend with my kids, pumpkin picking Saturday morning, visit from grandparents, watched movies and had no sports on all weekend. Mind is clear. This season is why I've been a fan for so long. The last 6 or 7 years in particular (much thanks to Bautista in all honesty) really re-energized me to root harder for this team than any other in sport. This season started like any other, we were down Stroman and Saunders before things began. I thought for sure we were going to be plagued with injuries all season like we always are - a series of unfortunate events if you will. But even without our go to arm, even with a declining SS, even without our second baseman for most of the season we somehow stayed around .500 all while using a first baseman or AAA depth in left field. We managed to hang around and be that team short a few pieces to be competitive. Then the miracle happens when we get our deadline boost. It showed us what things can be like in a perfect world, when a GM's back is against the wall and he's forced to make a move. With great hitting up and down the line up, excellent infield defense and with a trio of outfielders who for the most part are better than we've had in a long time, things quickly turned our way. We might not have gone all the way, we certainly got the s*** end of the stick but we did get to see meaningful baseball in September and more importantly in October and for that I am truly thankful for the never give up attitude throughout this organization. And the best news? Most of this team will be in tact next year. We will see this line up for seasons to come. We will see stroshow for years ahead, we will get to watch Osuna develop in to a complete pitcher whichever direction that takes him be it starter or closer. We will see what our rotation will look like when AA (or whoever) focuses purely on pitching in a FA rich off season. We have a fan base that is arguably louder & prouder than any in the league coupled with a front office who wants to win again. I can't wait until April 4th to continue this new chapter. I don't care what NY, Boston, Baltimore or Tampa does. I care about this team, the best team in baseball to cheer for and one we've been waiting decades for to be in this position. We will win that pennant again, whether that's next year or soon after and we will celebrate with a grand display of fireworks & rum. With that said... Go Mets Go. Go Mets Go.
  10. f*** this is so depressing. I mean I half expected it after being down 3-1 but its just the way the last game played out, not the fact that the season is over. It's the should of, could of, but didn't that's eating me up.
  11. Price is a B+. He pitched well this postseason, he gave us chances to win, was also tasked to be a BP arm in odd situations. he had a difficult job and shouldnt be on par with Dickey or Revere.
  12. I don't understand why Fox wouldn't have a Blue Jay broadcaster like Buck on board to give some better team analysis.
  13. Just win this game. I don't want to puke right now.
  14. So he ls going with Sanchez, Osuna, Lowe and then maybe Stroman. No mention of Hendriks.
  15. If Hendrik's is available I'd go with him. You got to wait for the lead until we bring in Osuna as the away team advantage in tie games.
  16. I think the rain won't last too long. Going to be a late one.
