  1. lol. Pretty sure they backloaded Estrada's contract to avoid needling through the scrap pile.
  2. I'm 90% positive King wears Google Glass and has live twitter updates flashing in his face all day everyday.
  3. He'll never succeed as a starter until he can get lefties out and he'd fair much better as a reliever in his current form if Gibby stops setting him up for failure. Putting him in situations against multiple lefties or bringing him in with runners in scoring position is just poor decision making.
  4. I don't know why a lot of people assume he's only had 1 good year. In his last 4 years he's actually only had one bad year which was 2014, in fact in 2012 he had a 3.3 fWAR season, far better than his 1.8 this year. He's been a consistent FIP beater during that time and has kept his BABIP far below league average throughout his career. Check out the article Gsnarles posted, it's a good read.
  5. To be fair he's played the majority of his career in the NL, it takes a bit of time to catch up on a slew of new hitters tendencies. Between learning to catch a knuckleball along with getting familiar with new pitchers, including two midseason with Price & Stroman, probably somewhat tough to keep up with studying hitters zones as well. I think he'll have a better year next season especially if he's not catching Dickey.
  6. Surely calling Fastball / Change up can't be that difficult to call a good game for Martin. Once it worked for Navarro it just made sense to give Martin a regular rest day, I don't believe he's played 140 games+ in years.
  7. When has he ever had the pressure to be a #1 guy?
  8. Yea and he could be guaranteed that (or even more) if there's an option for a 3rd year with a buyout.
  9. Probably the best of the worse case scenarios.
  10. He was absolutely dreadful before being suspended, comes back at age 40 and kicks it up a notch.
  11. Why burn 30+ innings on his arm that could be better spent starting 4 or 5 games for you? Just start him, use him till he's notably gassed and find a replacement. I think we would get a lot more value out of him starting 18+ games and a full season the following year. We have Osuna/Sanchez/Hendriks/Hutchison that are likely fighting for 1 spot, assuming we do grab a couple of FA arms. In an ideal world, Hutchison breaks out in Spring Training and Osuna starts in AAA.
  12. I wonder if Reyes is still smiling?
  13. This one time at band camp
  14. lol I read that as AA was rolling in money.
  15. Hate to say it, but this thread is a pile of s***.
  16. I really can't believe TSN took the KS article so far out of context sturring up false rumours. As North mentioned, there is a huge leap from Jays could be a possible fit for Davis to "Blue Jays are interested in Davis". TSN morons.
  17. And how often does that happen? lol If you love your team, you don't want to leave your team. See Mats Sundin.
  18. Does Smoakabello have any trade value?
  19. So a starting rotation of Stroman, Dickey, Hutchison, Reyes, Romero would net us 90 wins on purely our offense? lol
  20. I hear rumours Shapiro is targeting Jo Jo Reyes and Rickey Romero.
  21. My thought is 5th spot should be either Hutchison or some combination of Osuna, Hendriks, Sanchez knowing you can't get 200ip from any one of them, how that would work I don't know. Can probably get the most mileage out of Hendriks.
  22. As it currently stands, everyone in the line up is returning, sans Navarro. If everything remains the same, it actually will be improved with Travis over Goins. The only thing they could probably use is a strong left handed bat, most here want Heyward. That would let them move Bautista to 1B/DH. The question comes down to what Shapiro's plan is for the rotation, will the FA market satisfy him? Even though JB and EE are 10/5 players, would he able to move one? Should Tulo be moved? Who's the back up catcher? Can they repeat last year? Yes, they could actually improve on the record with the right plan, but the rotation is incomplete and we'll see what Shapiro/LaCava has in store, likely 2 mid tier starters. I think they should offer Estrada a QO, its really not the worse thing if he accepts like so many think and the odds are they get a free draft pick anyway.
  23. He should put a line through it each year and keep putting the next year below it. Or cover it with 1986 lol
  24. Yea, 2019 as well. Still...
