  1. They also have 3 seasons to explore that option, it's just not necessary to lock him up beyond 3 more years at this stage, especially when management hasn't even seen any of the team on field yet.
  2. lol ? Futhermore: - Goins provides adequate mid infield depth for Tulo, especially when Travis returns. Also, JD is extremely durable at 3B which only helps our infield depth, unlike when we had Lawrie/Reyes/Izturis and forced to play AAA back up most games. - If Saunders sticks then we have some great speed off the bench as well in Pompey, I don't look at that as a negative - SP could become an obvious issue though I do like having more options there then we've had in past years - You can't mention Colabello without Smoak because combined they were a 30HR 100RBI combo - Pillar doesn't need to repeat, just be above average and stay on the field as he did last year
  3. You could do this with almost every team minus the 180IP and most of those team's are asking "Who the hell is going to drive in runs?"
  4. At this point I'm certain Atkins just does Starbucks runs for Shapiro. I mean this type of interview is clearly meant for a GM not a President.
  5. You mean turning your SP prospects in to BP relief for 'experience' and then keeping them there is not the best method?
  6. Keep in mind with 10/5 players you can't just trade them without consent. I honestly don't see why they wouldn't both hit free agency, they don't owe the Jays anything - no player owes their former team anything when a contract ends. They will go to the highest bidder and if the Jays match the bid or closely match it they would stay. Otherwise, it's possibly their last chance to get paid why the hell wouldn't they explore all options?
  7. I think most understand that but since there is no way to quantify such a statement, you can't just say X player will definitely have a higher OBP at lead off, while Y player's would certainly drop. Instead, you'd say something like if we have an injury or two and need to joggle the line up, it'd be a worthwhile experiment to test Pillar at lead off and see how he does, his OBP could rise because ____________.
  8. You do realize lead off only happens on the first at bat of the first inning? It's actually plausible for every player 1-9 to lead off 1 inning each per game...
  9. but having a no more Kawasaki thread was very much so.
  10. 25yr old .290/.354/.423 in 7 minor league seasons

  12. "Proper usage from manager John Gibbons can alleviate a lot of those concerns" I spit water.
  13. Where did this come from yesterday or was this just a joke?
  14. Who do you guys see as lead off to start the season? It's obviously not a hole, just wondering how the line up will be arranged without Revere or Travis. I was never in favour of Tulo leading off, I think I'd prefer to slide everyone up with JD leading off. If Pompey shows a solid OBP early on, slot him in.
  15. Best chance maybe but they should still be very good. Losing JB or EE doesn't mean the world ends.
  16. I'm pretty sure if the story was about Sanchez saving an old woman, some of you would still look to hate on him. You care way too much.
  17. He was getting the same money last year... Avoid arbitration, hit the reset button try again.
  18. Saunders is worth more than a replacement player and he could be a welcome addition to our outfield. The front office knows a lot more about his situation. Hell it was this organization's negligence that costed him his season, they owe him something.

  20. Trading Dickey likely with Thole means we'd have a backup catcher to fill too.
  21. This. I love the idea of Travis leading off.
  22. The bandwagon fans are falling off the wagon quicker than ever this off season, it's pure entertainment. Necessary move, good job.
