    meh... i kinda like Lawrie and if he stays healthy he could be valuable utility... if he learns to play D at 2B and maybe SS. Those are pretty big ifs.

    Ok so now they are talking about a 30 sec timelimit on replay challenges. How is that not the first thing they try?     I like how Gagne and Dempster havent pitched for 11 years combined. Even if they were at their peaks this team would have little chance. Also where is Rob Ducey and Paul Quantrill? Edit: I wish Stubby Clapp still played (just for his name).

    Wont this mean more IBB? These changes entirely favor the fielders. No risk of someone running, wildpitch, accidental meatball... My moment of glory in little league would never have happened: Power hitter up (he already hit 1 HR earlier in the game that landed on a basketball court well past the fence), one strike on him when he absolutely crushed one of my pitches foul (easily the farthest ball anyone had hit off me at that point). My catcher came out and after a huddle he indicated an intentional walk. Next pitch was right down the middle and he didnt even budge for it. Years later the same play went tragically wrong for a college team. I cant seem to find the video.

    Giving ball and strike calling over to machines might cut down on a lot of this. Pitchers and hitters will often step out and walk around just to show their dismay with the strike-zone... and lets not forget coaches coming out of the dugout throwing s*** around and kicking dirt on umpires.

    f*** this. Stop f***ing with the game. I love those epic 14+ inning games. I will go so far as to change the channel just to watch one. I guess it makes sense in the minors where players are riding buses but this is a joke. Get rid of managers walking up the dugout so that the replay team can watch multiple angles before challenging if you want to save time.

    Im really starting to think that they are eyeing a big trade for RF (resigning Bautista makes too much sense otherwise). Maybe there is still a possibility of McCutcheon. I dunno about Calhoun for Stroman though.

    If it is any more than 2 years then it should be incentive laden. If he wants a big money long term deal then he has to earn it.

    I dont know how you can possibly accept comments coming from the FO during negotiations at face value. They are basically saying to his agent "we dont really need EE as much any more so if he wants to play here you are going to have to come down on your high offer". Besides, its not like they cant turn around and trade these guys if they get too many at 1B (looking at you smoak).

    We only get a pick if he signs before the draft, which is looking more and more unlikely.

    I think we can get him for cheap. He must no by now that the chances of getting the deal he wants are non-existent and that the list of teams willing to give up a pick are pathetically small.
