be interesting in the off-season if this team can compete/make the playoffs & most likely the team won't be blown up...
melk - what to do
cecil - arb eligible - making $1.3m this year
Francisco - making $1.35M - arb eligible - what to do
Happ - $5.2M now; $6.7M club option - what to do
casey - making $4M - resign & how much?
morrow - $8M current; $10M club option - whether picked up
Colby - currently $7M; resign or walk
Santos - current $3.75M; buyout
b/w Happ, Morrow, Colby, Santos - that's about $22M of payroll (about $1.75M for buyouts) that could be used elsewhere...ie. say $4m more for Melk, bit more for Cecil & Casey, bit more for Juan if that's the route AA goes...plus bunch of arb players...still plenty left over for a solid player
and then 2015, Buehrle's $19M comes off, Romero's $7.5M, Dickey club option, Navarro $5M...
there is plenty of light moving forward imo so long as the jays can legitimately compete for a playoff spot & play meaningful baseball in September
