  1. He also lost his stuff. Fastball sits at 91 as a reliever. Doesn't strike anyone out.
  2. He will always say the trade makes sense for the jays no matter what trying to make it sound like they win. Graveman was below Tirado and reid foley at the time of the draft most likely but now he is ahead of them. Wilner tried to make the Lind for Estrada deal sound good for the Jays.
  3. I don't get this "since we made good moves at other positions we can go into the season with Goins/Izturis at 2B". Do people not remember how bad those 2 players have been the last 2 years. You are just wasting talent yet again by having a blackhole at that position. Especailly if you have a rookie CF, you can't go into the season with 2 or 3 massive question marks. Against RHP the offence really isn't any better than last year. Lind put up a 164wRC+ and Melky 128 wRC+ vs RHP. Donaldson put up 110 wRC+ vs RHP last year while Martin had 148wRC+. Martin very likely will regress and Bautista, Edwin, Reyes are all another year older. Taking all that into account this offence is noticeably worse than last year if you were to go ahead with the options at hand. This team still needs a LF and 2B and can't afford to go into the season with dogshit at 2B and LF.
  4. Thats exactly why you shouldn't invest a lot of resources into them.
  5. I wouldn't say Mayberry/dirks is the plan because it seems like the plan is to get a LF and 2B. I also don't think Izturis can play SS at all. Donaldson is probably 5x better at SS than he would be.
  6. Not sure why St Louis would even pick him up. He is f***in terrible and has always been overrated in his "good" years.
  7. I usually use Wizwig but its being s***** today.
  8. Im not a fan of Bruce. I'd honestly rather pay Melky 3/45 than trade for Bruce. Melky really is the perfect hitter for this lineup as he doesn't strikeout, switch hits and has a lot of hard contact. If only he was a bit better in the field.
  9. Well obviously not but say all the prospects in the Marlins and Mets deals completely flamed out, GMs would think a little bit more about trading for Jays prospects in the future.
  10. Dickey has a team option for 2016. Another thing is Cespedes is RH and it would be nice to get a LH bat in the lineup.
  11. Machado put up 6.3 WAR in 2013 as a 20/21 year old. His defense is a ton of the value but its so good it makes adds up.
  12. No. Dickey is a lot more valuable to the Blue Jays than Cespedas. Dickey also has the extra year of control and when you are competing against the Red Sox for the division this is not a trade you make. Boston gets a lot better in this deal likely 2-2.5 wins, meanwhile the Jays don't improve.
  13. And the most expensive unless Headley gets a ridiculous offer. Decent chance the division's rank of best to worst 3B will go from cheapest to most expensive if Headley signs. Machado-Pre Arb Donaldson-5 M Longoria-11M Headley-15M Sandoval-17M
  14. Really depends who the prospects are and what you are getting back in the deal. Graveman and Nolin have pretty low ceilings and were college senior signs for like less than 25k IIRC. To even get anything of value drafting in those spots is a huge plus. They were pretty low on the depth chart behind more talented pitchers like Norris and Sanchez and you could afford to lose them since there is tremendous SP prospect depth in the farm system. Lets not forget Osuna, Hoffman and Castro are pretty highly touted so you can bridge the gap leaving Graveman and Nolin expendable. Even with those deals this is still a top 15 farm system and a trade for another couple of mid level prospects still doesn't move the needle too much. Really depends on the deal since there 2 pretty big holes in LF and 2B.
  15. Got 1 Goalie Win in the last 2 weeks. The Devils and Sens have been embarrassingly bad lately.
  16. My guess is 4-6 weeks. You want to make sure it is 100% before coming back. Don't need it acting up later in the season.
  17. Thats just crazy. Sandoval signs for 95 million and he isn't even a top 3 3rd baseman in the division.
  18. Tolleson is terrible and should not be in the big leagues. He had a lucky month to start the season and regressed back to normal. He is a below average hitter vs LHP and cannot hit RHP whatsoever. Izturis cost the team 2 wins in 2013 and has gotten 2 years older with a major knee surgery since then. Not sure how you can do worse than that. As it stands now I'd give Travis the job but I want someone more reliable than a guy who has never played above AA. Having a decent 2B option can be the difference of a division title or no playoffs for the 22 straight year.
  19. Shi Davidi was on PTS on Friday and said the talk of Dickey being bad in the clubhouse was ********. Said he is quiet and does his own thing since its hard to relate with other pitchers since his routine is completely different with the knuckleball but there isn't an issue of him being a bad teammate. Shi would know the clubhouse atmosphere probably more than anyone outside the org. I mean Halladay wasn't the best teammate in the world and he did just fine in Toronto. Especially now that the Jays traded a good amount of their SP depth I expect Dickey to stay unless the trade made the Jays a lot better. Dickey is severly undervalued by fans it seems. 200 dependable innings is huge for a young rotation and the Dickey effect increases his value to someone like Shields if Thole doesn't catch him.
  20. I would trade EE for that package easily. For as much as an injury risk Lawrie is he would barely have to hit to be a 3 WAR player at 2B. No one would trade that package for 2 years of EE though.
  21. He might have the better arm but Donaldson has a pretty damn good arm himself. Donaldson is probably better with the glove and has a little less range.
  22. I don't want Goins starting 30 games...
  23. I don't think Thole is certain to have a roster spot. If Martin can catch Dickey they can have a different backup catcher.
  24. So is this deal happening? Haven't heard anything from any legit sources about it?
  25. Just by watching the video Donaldson actually reminds me of Lawrie on the field.
