I think when you make a move like this you don't head into next season with a question mark at 2nd base. Lowrie would be a pretty good target on a 2 year deal. I like Deon Travis but you would like to have depth even if you think he could start for the team.

Keith Law has said some pretty dumb things lately. Said the Jays need pitching but also said Deon Travis is a nobody and not saying anything in the article about 2B.

This lineup will murder LHP next year. Just Donaldson the last 2 years against LHP 187 and 183 wRC+.

I wouldn't call Donaldson young but he's definitely a superstar. Donaldson seems a lot younger than he actually is since it took him so long to get to the big leagues. 29 going into the season.

Well you then likely don't get Donaldson. I love Barreto as much as anyone but he is not a dealbreaker when you are getting Josh Donaldson.

Donaldson is older and I guess he wanted more depth. There is potential for this deal to be better for them in the longrun its just a bigger risk.

Didn't BTS suggest Donaldson for Lawrie, Stroman and Pompey and some of us thought that was a fair trade? Well Id rather have Stroman than Barretto, Nolin and Graveman not including Pompey.
