  1. Came across this highlight video. Donaldson's defence is damn good. Its hard to trade away Lawrie and not lose anything on defence but I think Donaldson is just as good a defender. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=I1OHXAok-qg
  2. Anyone think Donaldson could play SS for a few games?
  3. For a guy who is going to cost at least 15 million per season and will cost a draft pick I don't think its worth it. Much better spending money elsewhere.
  4. Even just McCarthy and the draft pick is better than Shields. One of the reasons Shields has value is because of his durability but with Dickey and Buehrle being good for 400 innings I think you can have a pitcher that has a bit more risk and higher reward. I don't even think we need another SP tbh. 2B, LF and the bullpen are all much bigger needs than a starter.
  5. Bautista mouths off all the time and I don't think anyone wants him traded? Buehrle told reporters off the record how he was mad at the front office and ownership for not making moves at the deadline, yet he is still here..
  6. Hes not nearly as good as you think. I honestly wouldn't be surprised if Hutch has a better season next year.
  7. Who is playing SS instead of Reyes?
  8. Good for the Jersey sale dept. I bet there will be a ton of Martin and Donaldson jersey sales for xmas.
  9. I dunno 2B looks like horseshit. Tolleson and Izturis platoon is just garbage. It would be worse than last year.
  10. It will be really interesting to see for sure. DD definetely helped open the floor for Lowry and Ross to shoot 3s. While he was inefficient he was starting to take better shots the last few games. Lou Williams figures to get a decent bump in minutes. Vasquez has been pretty good the last 2 games so hopefully he has turned the corner. As bad as the injury is the 2 guard has the most depth on the team. An injury to Lowry, Val or Amir would of been much worse. Really sucks for Demar considering the next game would of been in LA in front of friends and family as well. Gotta feel for him.
  11. Well you look like a f***in idiot. Tore his groin and is out indefinitely. Sounds like at least 4-6 weeks. Never question a player's toughness when you don't know what happened. Also..even though Demar hasn't shot particularly well he is still a good player and the team will miss him. Demar opens up the offence for other players on the floor. Fields seems like he will get some playing time and expect more min for Lou and JJ.
  12. Rasmus is not going to play for the Blue Jays again. People need to realize this.
  13. the upgrades they have made though are the equivalent of getting Robinson Cano to play 2nd base Melky in LF. Upgrades are upgrades no matter what holes you have.
  14. Im saying since the trade there have been a few new posters with some not so smart baseball questions. Not saying its a bad thing necessarily
  15. Seems like a ton of money for a team that could better spend it elsewhere. McCcarthy and Headley would be close to the same AAV for less years and you don't have to give up a draft pick while adressing 2 positions.
  16. All these big moves are bring the casual fans to the board.
  17. Well his defence will decline as peak defence is usually around 25-26. All the projections have him as around a 5 win player going forward so technically that is a decline from the last 2 years. However, a 5 win player decline or not is still a fantastic player. I do this trade 10/10 times.
  18. Exactly. Its like with the Mets trade people want d'arnaud and Synderguard to fail so the trade doesn't look bad for the blue jays. If anything it will make that GM hesitate to make deals in the future if your prospects keep failing.
  19. I wouldn't call Donaldson the Mike Trout of anything. Mike Trout was still better by almost 4 wins over the last 2 years. Also Donaldson is probably going to be on the decline the next few years considering he is 29 and lots of his value is on defence. Still, the deal is a no brainer but I think you are hyping it too much.
  20. Kiley Mcdaniel of Fangraphs had a write up of the prospects. Reading the article it seems he is pretty low on the prospects going to the As. Even I thought he sold a few of them short. http://www.fangraphs.com/blogs/franklin-barreto-the-key-to-the-josh-donaldson-trade/
  21. f*** it would be really nice if Adam Lind was still on this team. He mashes RHP and would fit in great in the middle of that lineup. I wonder if AA asked for John Jaso to be included in the Donaldson deal.
  22. Anyone wonder what the As could have gotten if they made Donaldson available to other teams? I feel like the Red Sox could and would have traded a much better package. Something like Betts, Vasquez, Barnes, JBJ and a throw in like Middlebrooks seems way better than the Blue Jays offer. Edit: This would obviously be before they signed Sandoval.
  23. I think we all realize Lawrie has "star" potential. The big ? besides health is his swing. If they can rework his swing so he doesn't hit so many groundballs Lawrie can be a superstar. If it all comes together for Lawrie I wouldn't be surprised to see a 6 win player. That said, the chances of it "all coming together" at this point are pretty slim. From a Jays POV even if Lawrie has a 5-6 win season in 2016 or 2017 I don't think you can be mad at the deal. Donaldson has been one of the best in baseball and this team needs more concrete answers than question marks going into the season.
  24. How come? I think it would be better to have a LH bat in between all of those RH bats so managers can't just bring in a RHP to face all the righties. Since Reyes is a switch hitter but bats better from the Left side managers could bring in a LHP for him and the #2 hitter than switch it.
  25. Best value out there IMO is the 20 ticket flex pack. You can get 4 tickets to the home opener (which if you sell, can make up the money the flex pack cost in the 1st place) and 6 tickets to Red Sox Yankees games. What I did last year was pick all the prime games like Canada Day and weekend vs Yanks and Sox and if I couldn't go sell them and get double value. When your a flex pack owner you can buy other tickets with no fees as well.
