Great job to save 2 milllion bucks there. If he doesn't work out you can always DFA him in the season. Pretty much no risk very high reward. -
Considering its a minor league deal its a good depth signing.

Donaldson is much worse against RHP (compared to LHP) so I think you would have to change it depending on LHP/RHP. Just wondering, If you had a guy like Lind would you move Donaldson right behind him in the lineup and move someone like Pompey behind him vs RHP to try to get him more PA vs LHP later in the game?

d'Arnaud is a great framer though so it evens out the bad parts of his defensive game.

Its getting to the point where you might as well just build a new ballpark with grass in it. By 2018 RC will be almost 30 years old and it probably only has 10 years left anyways. But I really can't see Rogers spending 500-700 million for a new stadium especially since the government won't be giving any money for it. -

Im not sure the Jays would be. With so many ? in the bullpen I have a hard time seeing them trade one of their best relievers.

Okay. Ill take my chances a decent 2B helping the team get to the playoffs than relying on Izturis/Goins.

If he takes a 1 year deal... But sounds like he is going to get at least 2 years, maybe 3 years. I agree he would be a good target for something like 2/24.

Shields was awful in the playoffs. Thats what people are saying. Just because you have a frontline starter doesn't mean they are guaranteed to pitch like it in the post season. Kershaw was bad in his playoff appearances as well so we need to get over the fact that pitching is never automatic and a lot of it just comes down to luck.

I love platoons as much as anyone and think 2 full time would work just fine. Im saying having 3 full time platoons really limits your bench and why having Valencia stick around as a platoon DH is a waste of a roster spot when you have Mayberry and Pillar on the 25 man roster.

How am I overstating this? This is a very real scenario and would happen frequently. And you do know there are only 4 Bench spots right? 1 being the backup catcher and 3 for platoons leaves nothing else.

Not that exact number but everything would suggest around that number. Martin's deal was heavily backloaded for a reason and AA has said that they would have to get creative with money if they were to bring in a high $ FA.

AA also came out and said on radio that the 3 areas they are looking to address is LF, 2B and BP. With only limited $ available they aren't going to be signing a big money FA.

When have the Jays ever signed anyone after hearing Toronto is interested in "x" beforehand? Not going to happen unless its someone like BNS or Shi tweeting it out.
