  1. Mike Hoffman once put up 94 points in the Q.
  2. Because he was a terrible GM.
  3. Yeah you could be right. Davidi hinted at this a while back as well too. I really hope Ken Williams is not hired though. Everything about him baseball wise I hated and I feel like he is going to try and be inside the baseball discussions.
  4. Why hasn't any Blue Jays beat writer or any canadian news outlet report this or even just mention the report? Even if it is a Sunday it seems weird...
  5. Good news Beeston is going to be gone as I simply can't think of anything he has done over the last 5 years that is positive for the Blue Jays. Hopefully the new guy can help bring grass to RC. I really hope Ken Williams is not his replacement though. Terrible GM and apparently he tries to mingle with their current GM's decisions. Honestly AA probably could be a decent President as he seems pretty business oriented but thats just pure speculating. Usually new Presidents will want their own guy as GM which isn't good news for AA.
  6. Obviously mentally unstable were probably the wrong words to use. Its not like I didn't want him batting second because I thought he would crumble because of pressure. He isn't the best hitter for that high up in the lineup which is what I said and I added that his mental side of the game is not the best. Its probably bias from me going on Twitter only to see him tweet something soft. Tweets like this would make you think he is a 14 year old girl not a baseball player.
  7. Pitching "flops" a lot more than position players do.
  8. Well he has said in interviews that he often gets frustrated when he doesn't get a hit every AB and that even though he was playing well last year he wasn't having fun playing baseball. Also on Twitter he often tweets like a 14 year old girl who just broke up with their boyfriend. That sounds to me like he isn't the most stable mentally and that if he doesn't play well for a stretch of time could lose focus. There is a ton of harm putting him in the 2-hole. First of all, there are 5 players better than him who would be better choices. Second of all, if he feels too much pressure hitting at the top of the lineup he could press and try to do too much which gets him out of rhythm and bad habits are created.
  9. I think you put the best guy in the bullpen regardless of contracts.. Maximizing wins is more important than keeping down a guy's salary in arb years later.
  10. Ah I see. I really want to see the NHL implement Synergy tracking. It would allow better metrics to be used than Corsi/Fenwick. The thing I hate most is when bloggers talk about Corsi game to game. Often I see "x player" has given up 15 shot attempts against and therefore is having a s*** game.
  11. He hasn't destroyed every level he has played at. First off he strikes out a lot so I'm not sure you want that in a #2 hitter and why put extra pressure on the kid? Pompey is a guy who seems pretty fragile mentally so the last thing you want to do is try to make him feel like he has to be better than he is.
  12. But I have a hard time believing Donaldson's range is that much better than Lawrie's. Lawrie probably gets to just as many balls on the infield and committed less errors.
  13. Not nearly enough of a sample size to come to a conclusion about his defence from metrics. Inside Edge and FSR like his defence so far.
  14. And both of those guys were terrible signings at the time as well... If you are trying to say Josh Hamilton and Ryan Howard were good signings but bad luck made them worse, then I don't know what to say..
  15. Thats what I was thinking as well. I'm surprised I haven't heard anyone say anything about it because it can make a pretty big difference. When Lawrie grades higher on Inside Edge it makes me think that Donaldson does get a huge boost. I mean we all saw how good Lawrie was at 3rd base and when he doesn't have many errors you have to wonder how accurate the metrics are when Donaldson is SO much better, yet commits more errors.
  16. Pitchers suddenly flop all the time. Pitching has so many injuries that you can't prevent. I mean look at Verlander who had a pretty bad season after being the best pitcher in baseball.
  17. If Martin catches Dickey we will.
  18. Lol I have no idea what I just read. Whats he comparing Corsi to?
  19. Can't forget when he said that NEXT YEAR's 2016 Denver/NY pick has a good chance to be top 5 after 10 games. Pretty sure literally the day after he said that Denver went on a good run. He's the master of knee-jerk reactions.
  20. I agree and thats why I said he should be much lower on people's lists. I think being a high pick in the draft has made people overrate his value. He still has a long ways to go and development for catchers take longer than other positions.
  21. Probably because Donaldson is a hell of a lot better defensively than Valencia. Im fine with letting Donaldson DH every 10 games at RC but everytime there is a LHP I don't want Donaldson DHing.
  22. SRF is the best out of that group by a decent margin. Brentz has good upside but still has a ton of developing to do before he turns into anything. Guys like Lietz and Smith have decent numbers but really hard to tell what their future is.
  23. I don't get the "since Donaldson was traded for not very much, every 3B value goes down". Also, if RH power is worth so much around the league then I think EE should be higher. Stroman should be higher than Ventura I would think as well, but I guess the "being short" would decrease Stroman's value around the league still. Edit: Lucroy should be way higher. If Martin was getting 70 million dollar offeres from multiple teams, than catcher defense is worth a lot more than Dave Cameron thinks.
  24. No point of second guessing them picking Pentecost over "x" prospect. This front office has done a great job of drafting with the strategy they have used. With the amount of IFA and late round picks that have turned into good assets you can afford to have a few high picks not pan out.
