Throwing one pitch at 94 doesn't make a fastball that sits at 88 much better. The thing he has going for him is projection but his best pitch is 67-68 MPH and he is going to need to add a few MPH if he wants to get hitters out at a big league level. One guy that follows Van games said he mixes speeds well but hitters time him up pretty well the 2nd time through. He can be a guy to keep an eye on but he's no Nicolino. -
I think BP took the bigger picture view and didn't factor in performance in 2014 as highly as some of the people on this board did. I remember listening to a podcast with Jason Parks and he was still really high on Tirado even though he wasn't performing well. Some of these really young dominicans can have a huge culture shock living in cold weather places like Lansing and it can set them back, but they are so young and the stuff is still really good that they are still good prospects. Personally, Id have Tirado lower and guys like Travis and DSJ higher but its just opinion really. I see some of you having Borucki pretty high but reports on him say his FB is 87-88 with an average curveball really being his only decent pitch. Numbers in the minor leagues can really be misleading sometimes.

Yeah i don't want him. Not only has he not had a good year without roids but a DUI and domestic violence charge scream stay away. I don't think you want anyone associated with domestic violence on this team.

agree. If those 2 were a tandem I think they would be one of the better broadcasts in all of baseball. That obviously would never happen because of the Raptors but still fun to dream. Even Sidall with Buck is pretty enjoyable to listen to.

I think you want to keep it as a hitters park. Once grass is installed, hitters will want to come here and the Jays under this front office seem to be really good at drafting pitchers.

He's pretty valuable in the Hits/Blocks. Mark Stone is probably the much better actual player.

Reminds me of Tony Parker banging Brett Barry's wife. I bet it happens in sports a lot more then we think. I think it happened to the Pacers last year too. Edit: Quentin Richarson banged Steve Nash's wife at the time and the Suns traded him right away. Guess it happens a lot in NBA lol.

They probably told him he was going to be the 4th OF and get decent Abs vs LHP heading into next year. He is probably more happy considering Saunders is a LHH who has had a number of injuries in his past.

Exactly. This isn't the NBA where the better team almost always wins in a 7 game series and individual performances are much more consistent. MLB postseason has so many variables and all it takes is a few bounces for a team to win a couple games.

Funny how in the minors Hutch was considered to have a plus change and the slider needed the most work. Seems almost reversed now.

It could be trade value around the league and not value for what you are getting for your money. Cole Hamels is thought of as an "ace" so he probably fetches a bigger return. That said, you would think Bautista and Edwin would be higher because of the "star" value and since RH power is so scarce. Edit: After reading the part 2, I agree that this is just a bad list. Anthony Rizzo at 7 was just weird.

That could just be noise... Pirates have a lot of pitchers that have great fastballs. I would expect Martin to call more breaking balls than Navarro did for Sanchez. -

Im really interested to see Martin catch Sanchez. Navarro barely ever called breaking balls with Sanchez on the mound and Martin has a reputation as a good game caller. Also interested to see how Martin frames Sanchez because that 2 seamer is hard for anyone to catch. -
I would ship him off with Navarro for just salary relief if it came to that. I feel like the team wanting Navarro doesn't want to pay his full salary and that is why a trade hasn't happened yet. Navarro really doesn't have a place on this team even as a backup.

Honestly the Jays should just release Izturis and eat the 3 milllion. I can't see him providing any value at all. Travis at 2B and Goins has the utility infielder is probably the best option if the season started tomorrow.

Anyone else feel Law has moved way down on the depth chart of baseball writers? I barely even follow his opinion anymore. Id take all the Fangraphs writers over him easily and Jonah Keri as well.

Thats probably why the team is going no where. They are a wildcard playoff team because they have a good ground of forwards and their bottom 6 have played really well. That is one of the worst positions to be in this year considering the draft. The Leafs will need elite talent to get to that PIT/BOS/Elite West level. Well its is a lot harder to get elite talent picking 17th overall than top 5 so they likely will be on a treadmill of playoff team but not good enough to be a contender with this core.

Probably to get Donaldson Abs vs LHP where he is elite. I think Saunders would probably be the better guy to be moved up in the lineup though. (If you were to slide Donaldson to 6th and put a LHH at 5)
