  1. Stroman has almost 2. Since he was on the DL it counts as MLB service time.
  2. Donaldson had a couple of great interviews today with fan 590 and TSN 1050. Said if Jays were in the same "area code" in terms of money he wouldn't be surprised at all if Price comes back and that him, Tulo and Bautista kept at him to sign an extension haha. But one of the most interesting things he said was that despite the metrics he felt he had his best defensive season this year and he said when Tulo came over he thought it made him a better defender being able to pick his brain. He specifically mentioned his troubles with throwing errors in the past so I went to baseball reference to see if there was anything there. Interestingly I checked his game log and after Tulo came over in the trade JD made 4 errors (all throwing) but all 4 of them were in August and he didn't commit a single error in September. Obviously there are flaws looking at just errors but I couldn't find any UZR/DRS data in monthly splits. Something to watch for next year!
  3. Jays actually had a good year with minor league FA and depth signings last year. Collabello, Carrera, Hague all had pretty good years. Really, the only year under AA they were good in that area.
  4. He has one of the best changeups in baseball? His cutter and curveball are definitely good pitches too.
  5. Speaking of contracts did anyone else notice Stroman retweeted this article. Article lists young players that would make sense to get extended. What would a realistic Stroman extenstion look like to have a couple of club options to buy out his FA years?
  6. Boston has one of the best farm systems and great young position players. Even if Price declines they would be the best team for the short future. I mean right now FG has them ahead of the Jays by a small margin. Even if you give a boost for Estrada and Dickey because they outperform their FIP both teams are pretty damn close.
  7. Yeah Cano is actually a really good example. I think at the same time players realize things can change so fast so that is usually why they take the money. Like look at the Marlins with Reyes and Buehrle, your entire life can be changed in 1 day. But you do wonder in a player's mind if the difference between $175 million and $220 million is enough for them to go to their 2nd or 3rd choice. If there ever was a guy to do that Price would fit the *profile*. Lol if the guy is giving his teammates scooters and robes with $20 million per season imagine what he does with $200 million.
  8. I wonder how much pressure agents and the MLBPA put on players to take the most money. Like say Toronto were to offer around $190 million like Dinger said and Boston offered him $230 million. Price said money isn't a big factor but I'd have to think his agent would be pissed at him taking $40 million less.
  9. Bad news: Boston is the best team in the division for the next few years.
  10. Waste was the wrong word choice. With Price, Stroman, Dickey and Estrada you don't need as much "depth" as you normally would. Certainly enough where you don't have to trade a controllable reliever for 1 year of Chavez at 4.7. Hutch isn't a bad #5 starter, he could very well be better than Chavez.
  11. I could see the Cubs using $ to sgin Heyward and Lackey instead which would make Price's FA more interesting. My guess is TOR, SF, LAD, CHC would be his top 4. I think Price will go to the NL. When he did an interview with Zaun he said one of his requests to any team when considering FA was that he was allowed to take BP once a week. He might just really want to hit lol.
  12. Personally I can't see him Toronto paying for him. If the plan was to sign him all along the Chavez trade seems like a waste. I think SF would be an interesting place for Price to go.
  13. Nice moves. Solid depth that cost nothing.
  14. I guess. Still, likely won't be anyone half as good as he was.
  15. He seems way to take the numbers based approach to an extreme. Certainly has some very old players ranked pretty high. We took for granted how great Kiley was.
  16. Wow. Josh Donaldson on fan590 right now just said he would be happy to finish his career in Toronto. Normally you don't hear players be this upfront about it as he was even the one to bring it up. Said he expects his agent to talk with Lacava fairly soon but that he isn't too involved in the actual negotiations. Get something done Shapiro and LaCava!!
  17. Absolutely. But you could say the same with a lot of SP.
  18. Team ERA as a whole is pretty misleading though as there are a ton of factors that influence that including Park and Defense. Jays defense should be very good so they don't you are right in that they don't need the best SP. But like KC showed you need a great bullpen and the Jays just traded one of their best bullpen arms. Dickey will always worry fans no matter what with how unpredictable he is.
  19. At the same time I think he has a point about 3 playoff starts going to Chavez, Dickey and Estrada.
  20. I'd rather take my chances with Michael Saunders then Jay Bruce. I think Bruce's BABIP rebounds next season though. .251 BABIP with 35% hard contact and only 5% IFFB rate seems like s***** luck.
  21. Clippers look Hungover as s***. lol they look like the Sixers out there. Raps playing really well too.
  22. If that was the plan the Chavez trade would be even more stupid. You don't trade Hendriks to pay Chavez 4.7 and then sign a riskier reliever to something around 5 million. Part of the reason why they made the trade was SP depth so if you planned to have Hutch and Osuna in AAA it makes a lot less sense. Not to mention the bullpen would be a massive question mark with that scenario.
  23. Yeah I would agree with that. Still don't see how AA would want to work in anywhere but baseball.
