I think Masai has something to do with the culture of the org. and why the players liked being in Toronto. Like Lowry said before Masai came he hated everything about the org. Now if the Raps were winning when BC was here who knows if it all would of been the same but I think Masai brings something that most GMs don't have.
I still can't believe Lowry makes so little though. 11 Million for an elite player like him is such a steal.
Of if he really did want to go to Toronto and didn't care about the extra money his agent is just trying to get more $ out of Toronto. I think Boston wants Price but they are also leaking to the media about going "all in" to drive up the price if Toronto were to sign him since they are a division rival.
I'd say Masai is an above average one. Yes the T Ross extension was awful but he's also made great moves like the Lowry extension and Bargs trade. He's well respected around the league and most NBA people will tell you he is a top 10 GM. I just can't see Toronto being better off with some other random GM. I also have zero confidence in MLSE/Air Canada President hiring the right guy.
Yeah I'd probably go for Price if those are the only options. Not so sure the FO would do the same though. I wonder if Price would sign for $180-190 if Boston were to offer something like $230
I think there is a better chance Pillar has an above average offensive season then him turning into a 2 Win player. I believe there's truth that there is value in being around guys like Donaldson, Bautista, Tulo etc..
People probably don't realize the low Canadian dollar would help out players a bit as well. Its not a huge difference by any means since players don't own houses but it helps. A star player has more marketing potential in Toronto I would think as well. Outside of New York/LA the endorsement deals here would be one of the highest of any MLB city.
Theres still a ton of risk with that. My guess is his agent will want at least a partial NTC. And if Toronto were to sign him for less money he will want that included for sure.
Yeah I don't think Walton makes any difference. This team would still be undefeated with Casey as their coach. People thought Gentry was the best assistant in the league and now that he is in New Orleans he has been one of the worse HC in the NBA.
I don't think you could ever hate the Warriors. Not only are they the most talented team in NBA history but they have really likable players. I don't think I've met someone who isn't a Steph Curry fan.
It sounds stupid but it apparently is true. Obviously its just just about deep breaths or w.e as there were other factors.

Anyone remember if the Blue Jays had any Black Friday or Cyber Monday deals last year? I saw MLBshop.com has 40% off authentic jerseys but I am hesitant to buy them if a Canadian retailer comes out with a better deal.
How much do FG even pay their writers? like $40k/year? Or $400 an article since it is journalism?
Awful start for this new prospect guy. Can't really switch anymore.
I remember JD said yesterday in an interview that he remembers a few years ago he with the As he played a series in TB followed by RC and said after that he felt like he needed to be in a wheelchair lol. Players will say you definitely get more sore playing on turf which I would agree with. Whether that makes a difference injury or performance wise who knows.
I'd find it interesting what players home to first times are on grass compared to turf as usually turf makes people faster.
Also been excellent his entire career so it makes zero sense in so many ways. I think Tulo is a great fit for the next few years at SS at RC since his biggest strength is his arm. Since the turf slows balls down he'll be able to take advantage of it more than the average SS. On the flip side there is the added injury risk but apparently this turf is better for players health.
Jeff Blair also thinks someone in the Jays FO was planning to put Tulo at 1B in 2017.
Funny that the guy he interviewed blasted Rogers ownership for being cheap.
I think advance scouting is still very important. I mean the Royals figured out Price was tipping his changeup because their scouts picked up on his breathing patterns. Something that small can make a massive difference in a series. I would guess most teams have video coordinators that watch film of the opposing team before each series as well to look for any baserunning patterns etc..
Now I think the major league scouts that scout players for FA and trades is a waste of time. There is enough data and video available that watching a player in person won't change the player's value.
