  1. I think whoever the backup catcher is they will want him to be catching Dickey. I forget what article it was but Martin's numbers were beyond terrible on days Dickey starts. When the upgrade of a backup catcher like half a win I'd rather Martin have a better chance of being healthy/more productive.
  2. Makes sense. Honestly probably could of got him for less. What MLB team would of given him a 25 man roster spot other than Toronto?
  3. might be approaching 30. Good chance of 50 by the time April comes around.
  4. I like what I heard from Atkins regarding nutrition. I hope he changes the structure in the minors in regards to the meals. There should be a private chef for each minor league team cooking healthy meals for the players. I never understand how teams feed f***in peanut butter sandwiches to prospects that are worth millions of dollars to them. Like you could spend 100K on food/catering which is nothing to a MLB team that could pay massive dividends for the org.
  5. you do know that they were trying to add a cutter/slider to Sanchez's arsenal last year right?
  6. lol at the Steve Simmons hate. I think everyone in this world can agree how bad of a media personality he is.
  7. I don't have a problem with acquiring SP depth, just that they gave up way too much to get him. Seems like if LaCava waited a little longer they could of got Chavez or a similar pitcher for less than Hendriks.
  8. Not gonna happen. Front Offices hate to admit to mistakes.
  9. If it was 1 year of Hendriks for 1 year of Chavez I would agree but Hendriks had 3 more years of control and was making nothing. As it stands right now the Jays need a bullpen arm like Hendriks.
  10. The Chavez trade is one you make in February if you don't have the SP depth. Making that trade in November made little sense when there was still the entire offseason. I would think most people on the board wouldn't do that trade today if we still had Hendriks.
  11. I thought Atkins was an analytic guy but its interesting seeing how he has always been more of a scouting guy. I didn't know he pitched in the Indians system either.
  12. imagine the raps beat them
  13. hahahahaha
  14. lol well he just signed a contract extension so this was obvious.
  15. Hopefully he is a good negotiator.
  16. Of course. I never said University was bad or anything. There seems to be a lot of people who think a degree will guarantee them a good job and those are the people who are still working at the Hardware store 3 years after they graduate.
  17. I wish one of these days a player when giving an interview after just signing says I came here solely because the team offered me the most term/money. I don't really care about the city and 3/36 is why I am doing this interview. Everyone knows the truth but instead we listen all this trash about the city, fans and "fit".
  18. Its not just about player personnel I'd say. Casey's comments the other day said analytics have made them change their playing style and in the past I remember him saying that the analytic guys are always telling me blah blah blah etc... I think Derozan is finally playing more analytic friendly even if he still takes bad shots here and there. Ross is terrible obviously and that signing looks awful. I think Masai overvalued having term with a "young" player.
  19. Exactly. Grades really are useless in the real world. No employer will ever ask you what your marks were in High School/University. As long as you get good enough grades to get into what program you want to get into it really doesn't matter beyond that. Even then you don't need post secondary education to be successful. As well there are tons of Univeristy grads who had great marks with s***** jobs.
  20. preschool actually
  21. Low 80s average if you want to know so badly.
  22. lol no reason to ask that question. I make more money than you ever will.
  23. I hate how people makes this comparison. Masai has one of the deepest analytic teams in the league while AA had like 2 in the entire department.
  24. But there is a lot more risk than usual since its like: Best case scenario: he pitches like he usually does and you get 10-15 million in surplus. Worst case: He gets TJS in the first few months and in theory you are paying 60 Million for a little over a year of him in 2018. I like James Shields a lot but I hate the contract structuring. Its similar to Price's with a lot less money. If he pitches well you get decent value since he opts out but if not then you get killed.
  25. So I log on to pay off the rest of my season tickets and notice it has the cost in USD? Anyone else see this? I assume its an error..
