I like him as a player don't get me wrong but he's a 7th/8th man on the team. Last year he looked really good but honestly in his limited time on the floor this year he hasn't been good. Now I don't know if its because he wants to "prove" himself to get more playing time but he's really forced shots when he's gotten the ball which has led to turnovers. We're also dealing with a very small sample.
Everyone knows Derozan isn't going to be benched for JJ. I think after last year the coaching staff/FO doesn't want Lowry having to handle the ball so much so Derozan is being used a lot. If Derozan just cut out the 3-4 bad mid range shots a game he'd be a great player. He's great at driving to the rim and passing but those mid range shots kill his efficiency. I do think the coaching staff is improving in this area but there are still a few bad shots a game.
only chain pizza I don't mind is Dominos. I always go to one of those independent pizza stores. They're always better I find even if its more expensive.
Your overrating JJ a ton. I doubt he has much value around the league. You get maybe a 2nd round pick back for him. His lack of a 3 point shot makes him a bad fit on the roster since CJ and Derozan don't shoot 3s. Especially with Biyombo on the court the spacing would be bad.
The only lineup he would work in really would be Lowry-Ross-JJ-Patterson-Biyombo.
I don't think they did either but it makes no sense to trade him and then pay Mark Lowe 5-6 Million per season. People say releivers are risky well Mark Lowe comes with extreme risk compared to Hendriks. Last year was his first good year in like 5+ seasons.
I was advocating signing Lowe this offseason but there would be no point to trade away Hendriks to pay Chavez 4.7 then replace Hendriks with a releiver making 6 million. You would effectively be paying what Chavez provides for $10.7 Million. You may as well just kept Hendriks and the 4 years of control and signed a swing starter like Blanton for like 6 or 7.
I feel like everyone forgets about Hutchison. He had a really bad 2nd half of the season but maybe some of it was related to confidence. He probably though he had a terrible first half because of his 5.33 ERA but he did have a 3.71 FIP so there definitely was some bad luck there.
If we are going to upgrade the rotation and spend money I'd rather spend it on some upside. The Chens and the Leakes are good pitchers because of the reliability they provide but they aren't going to be more than #4/borderline 3 starters. Much rather go for a guy like Shark Kuma or even Lackey who have more talent and should cost the same or less.
If you were going to sign Lowe for 5-7 Million why do you make the trade for Chavez? Hendriks was just as good making league min with more control. In theory it would be like paying Chavez 10+ million while giving away 3 years of Hendriks. I think the Jays go cheap in the bullpen. Maybe pick up a couple of failed starters.
lol you don't have to believe what I say. I think Masai is above average GM. Sure there might be better guys out there, but I really can't see MLSE hiring anyone better. Lets not forget they wanted friggen Phil Jackson before Masai.
An MLB player really doesn't have much of any expenses in the MLB city they live in. I thought this initially but they pay maybe 50-60 K in living expenses. All the big time players get free meals wherever they eat anyway so really its just they're rent they pay for.
If Bob Voulgaris says Masai is one of the top GMs I'll value his opinion pretty high. The guy is knows the NBA inside and out and makes 5 Million/year on it.
