  1. Yeah that was a reputation walk. They were probably better off pitching to Tony given how bad he’s been. Good piece of hitting by Clement. Frustrating game in general, but very typical 2023-25 game for this team. At least they got the W.
  2. Myles Straw pinch hitting for the only hitting prospect the Jays have developed in 5 years that looks like he might actually stick. I'm tapping out.
  3. Orioles down 6-0 in the top of the 1st and the Nats are still batting. Brandon Hyde dragging this team down even when he's sitting at home.
  4. Why was Lauer pulled after 3 IP/40 pitches? He threw 4 IP/77 pitches and 4.2 IP/63 pitches in 2 of his last 3 outings, and hadn't pitched in 6 days.
  5. Santander must be broken mentally for them to not have him pinch hit there.
  6. Francis and Green combined about to break Bonds’ home run record this year. It’s home runs allowed but still.
  7. Francis has given up 14 home runs in 45 innings counting tonight. That's kinda bad.
  8. 2022-24 as a DH: 90 wRC+, 453 PA 2022-24 as not a DH: 134 wRC+, 1511 PA Maybe Tony just hates being a DH. Unfortunately if Santander is not hitting home runs then there really isn't much you can do. At this point I think giving him more OF reps and batting him lower in the lineup is a reasonable first step. Of course it is not going to mean anything until balls start leaving the yard. Once that happens then all is right.
  9. The only thing Santander does well is hit home runs and he’s not hitting them right now. Once he starts (hopefully) then it will be better, but really shows how much of a one trick pony he is. When he’s not hitting home runs, he doesn’t provide any other value.
  10. Is it too much to ask to combine the April Jays that hit nothing but singles with the May Jays that hit home runs?
  11. Get the series win tomorrow and get over .500 again.
  12. This might fail miserably but I like using Rodriguez here. Green stinks and they badly need another high leverage arm to develop internally. Hopefully Rodriguez can be that guy, but definitely could go either way.
  13. One trick pony who is not doing the only thing he’s good at yet. He will get hot eventually but he really needs to be a 35+ HR bat every year to have value.
  14. Nicely done Kirk. Schneider having to manage 3 bullpen innings without Hoffman now. I’m terrified but hopefully the Jays can score more to make it less stressful.
  15. Why is Lukes losing playing time against RHP to Clase? Did I miss something (injury)?
  16. Stuff like pulling a struggling closer for a better matchup is why the Rays always seem to perform better than expected. No chance Schneider pulls Fairbanks there.
  17. Brutal loss, but a better loss than the 2-1 losses where the Jays hit 16 singles.
  18. Of course when the Jays score 7 runs off nothing but home runs, that's when the pitching gives up 11. When the Jays score 1 run on 13 singles, the pitching is lights out.
  19. Vlad in his prime makes us want to rip our hair out, I can’t imagine what 14 more years will feel like.
  20. Jays need to beat Baz just for that mustache.
  21. Crazy to think that if the Jays had just won 1 of the games against the Angels that they blew late, then they would have been in a playoff spot right now. Doesn't feel that way given how they've played most of the season. The AL has no great teams, and only a couple of truly bad teams, so it's really wide open.
  22. Schneider probably threw a tantrum between innings knowing he couldn't use Hoffman or Garcia in this game due to the score. Seriously though, great to see the bats waking up. They needed at least one (likely more than that) young bat to turn into something, and maybe we are seeing that with Barger.
  23. If this team is within striking distance of a WC spot at the deadline then they will definitely be buyers. They shouldn't be, but lame duck management doesn't care about tomorrow. They want to secure today so that there is a tomorrow for them. The Jays either need to go on a real run or need to start falling out of the race entirely. The middle is going to screw them because neither management nor ownership has the team's long-term interests in mind.
  24. If Barger is even a passable 3B then they have to keep him there, even though he’s likely better in RF. He’s the team’s best chance at developing a good hitter as you can’t fake exit velocity.
