  1. Wow, that Clase at bat should get Schneider fired. 1st and 2nd no out with a 2 run lead and the reliever struggling so you have Clase bunt 3 times into an out. Absolute clown show.
  2. Schneider using Little on Friday in a blow out so he couldn’t use him today in a 1 run game certainly aged well.
  3. Kinda need to score some runs today as Little and Rodriguez are likely not available. Green stinks and Schneider is probably salivating to use Swanson in a high leverage spot right out of the gate, which may not be the smartest idea. Doesn’t look like Gausman is lasting too much longer.
  4. Beaston Lucas returned, at least for one more game.
  5. Wasn't this Gausman's regular turn in the rotation? What was the reasoning for the bullpen game, aside from possibly handing the A's a win today?
  6. Wouldn’t surprise me if Clement is the SS next season. Nimmala is looking like a top 50 prospect and don’t know if you want to move Gimenez to short and then potentially move him back to 2B a year or two later when he’s already elite at 2B and hasn’t played SS in years. Of course it’s too early to assume Arjun pans out as well. Hopefully Jimenez ends up becoming something because I like Clement better as a utility IF.
  7. Spence has pitched 2 scoreless innings despite 5 of the 7 batters he's faced having exit velocities of 110, 104.4, 103.2, 106, and 106.2.
  8. Coming into tonight's game, Clement has a 195 wRC+ against LHP (55 PA) and 34 (!) wRC+ against RHP (121 PA). Probably a good idea to use him in a platoon once Gimenez gets back.
  9. You're arguing two different things. If Santander sucked and no one knew what the problem was, then that's different than "Anthony Santander has said that his shoulder/hip issues are helping him limit big swings", which is clearly an injury impacting a player's ability to do the only thing he does well (and why he got the contract in the first place). If all the players you listed were hurt, the org knew they were hurt, the org knew that they made adjustments to their swings to compensate for an injury, and still continued to play them to horrendous results, then yes, they would also get fairly criticized for it as well. If Tony was healthy and sucked, or it wasn't clear that he was hurt, then that's a different story. Just put him on the IL. Maybe that doesn't solve anything but throwing him out there everyday isn't helping either, especially if he's not hitting for power. Tony not hitting for power might be one of the worst players in the league. He literally doesn't provide value in any other way.
  10. If he’s hurt and he’s playing through it (leading to being one of the worst players in the league), while everyone knows he’s hurt, then at what point does the organization step in? If Tony was hurt and no one knew about it, then that’s a different story, but if injury is limiting the only thing he does well and the org just keeps running him out there, then what’s the upside for the team or the player?
  11. Santander playing through an injury that is impacting the only thing he does well. Another smart move by the Jays. He will be a negative WAR player this season and then in Spring Training 2026 we will read stories about how he played hurt all of 2025.
  12. Yeah the rotation isn’t going to last 162 as is. Scherzer might be cooked, and Manoah is coming back from TJS with no guarantee he’s going to be good when healthy. I’m not sure there is help on the way internally any time soon, If the offense was consistently good then they might be able to work around it, but they look great one week and 2024 levels the following week, so I have no idea what to expect from the bats. Probably closer to average offensively, which won’t be enough. They need to be the May offense more consistently to have a shot. I’ve said before this team either needs to go on a real run or fall way out of it. Being around .500 and within 4-5 games of a playoff spot with a lame duck front office is not ideal.
  13. A .500 team will give you hope and look like trash in the same week sometimes. Unfortunately that might be what the Jays are in 2025.
  14. I'm not even sure what his argument is. The Orioles had a bad off season. I'm pretty sure if he looked at his hard drive or Excel file or whatever he uses to document everyone's posting history, he'd see that people were genuinely laughing at the O's for not spending on better SP's this winter. So the basis of his argument is that people were praising the O's front office too much when they were winning 90-100 games on the backs of players they developed and/or traded for Corbin Burnes. I mean, that's kinda common sense. When the Jays were good in 2022 with Vlad, Bo, Kirk, Teo, Jansen, Manoah, Romano, etc, they were getting praised too. When a FO does good things they get praised, then when they do bad things they get criticized. Shocking. I honestly don't care if someone brings up something I said 5 years ago that ended up being wrong, I'm sure there's a bunch of those takes if someone (probably only Spank) wanted to take the time to look for it, but I honestly have no idea what he's talking about here. Oh well.
  15. The offense (assuming May Jays is reasonably sustainable) and bullpen should be able to keep the team in games but it's hard to envision the rotation holding up with 3 SP's, 1 dud (Francis), and 1 question mark (Scherzer, Lauer, etc). The team has gotten a nice break with Barger and Lukes both turning into something (Barger in particular). Now they really need one of those on the SP side as well. They have to hope they can keep their heads above water long enough to make a trade at the deadline for a SP. Barger turning into a competent 3B (for now) and Rodriguez (for now) looking like a potential late inning relief option does give them a bit more clarity on what they need if they are still in the race in July.
  16. Not sure how or when I became an Orioles fanboy or said they had the best front office. I've praised their player development in the past and prior to this winter they usually operated reasonably well despite salary constraints/cheapness, but that's hardly glazing their front office. Hell, I literally just praised Shatkins a page or two ago for spending on SP when Vlad/Bo came up rather than doing what the Orioles just did.
  17. 3 runs over 8 innings for the 4 pitchers the Jays used is a great outing. Unfortunately the bats couldn’t do anything. Maybe it’s not just the Trop.
  18. 113 mph ground out for Barger. Man even his outs are hard hits.
  19. The bright side is that these games won't be at the Trop. Lauer definitely needs to eat up some innings tonight.
  20. Would have sucked to lose that game, glad they were able to finish the sweep. Finally over .500 again.
  21. Yeah this loss (if it ends up a loss) will be on Hoffman. I joke about JS loving to use as many relievers as possible, and it's not even that much of a joke as I think he legitimately gets high off that, but this one wasn't on him. If Hoffman does his job then it's not even a discussion.
  22. The Jays use every reliever in the pen (JS about to smoke a cigar after the game just for that) with TBD as tomorrow's starter. Not ideal. Hopefully Lauer can eat some innings tomorrow night.
  23. Clase, Straw, and Heineman due up in the bottom of the 10th. Hopefully Springer and Kirk will be used as pinch hitters. Need Little to hold them here though.
