  1. The Jays should go after Jarrod Dyson from the Royals. He is nearly a 3 WAR player as a back-up. Good defense, good base running, and better offense than Gose. Maybe Happ for Dyson? Not sure how highly the Royals value him.
  2. Yeah, if you told me before the year that Boston would be dead last, Tampa would be below .500, and the Yankees would be mediocre, I would have assumed the Jays would have won the division as I didn't see Baltimore as a 95 win team. What a waste of a season. The East may never be this 'bad' again.
  3. I don't mind Detroit winning and taking out the Indians. I still see the Tigers winning that division. Beating the Indians and Royals will help the Jays. The harder team to choose who to root for is between Oakland and Seattle. We face Seattle four times, so logically, we should hope Oakland wins the 1st WC and leaves the 2nd WC open for Seattle/Toronto/KC/Cleveland. The only way the Jays can make up ground is if Seattle is the team to catch, since they can control their own destiny next week (assuming they don't s*** the bed in Baltimore and New York before then).
  4. I meant one of Seattle/Oakland has to run away with the 1st WC, since that would leave the 2nd WC open. Forgot about the Angels for some reason. And I'm not sure you know what drunk means.
  5. Detroit beating Cleveland is not a bad thing. The Tigers are probably going to win the Central. They are not our issue. Cleveland and the Royals will be.
  6. Yeah the Jays have to hope one team in each division (West and Central) run away with the division. That's their only chance, because they sure as hell are not going to go 13-2, or whatever they need to do in order to win 90 games. But if all they have to do is play 4 games better than one of Oakland/Seattle and two of Detroit/KC/Cleveland, then it's far more realistic.
  7. We should be rooting for an Orioles sweep, followed by them coming back down to earth by Monday.
  8. The NFL has domestic violence and murder from their players, but baseball has a much more serious problem. Where's congress when you need them?
  9. The Orioles should be penalized and the 2nd place team should become the AL East leader. Only fair.
  10. Goins was talked about as 2B much the same way during the end of last season and all off-season. That is my main concern. My hope is that Melky accepts the QO, that way he is only locked in for one season and gives the team an extra year to find a cheap replacement (come on Dwight Smith Jr......save us).
  11. Colby's 2013 was not sustainable. High BABIP and terrible walk rate/high K's. He is Vernon Wells without the big peak year. He might have another 4 WAR season in him, but it sure as hell won't be the norm. Let someone else sign him long term.
  12. Red Sox up 6-3 in the 9th. We already saw the Rays blow a 9th inning lead so nothing is safe, but should the Sox hold on, then the Jays are 3.5 back of both Detroit and KC for the 2nd WC and 4.5 back of Oakland for the 1st WC. Indians and Yankees are right there with the Jays.
  13. Yankees have four against the Orioles this weekend. Hope the O's beat them up before cooling down for the Jays (crosses fingers).
  14. Walk off homer for the Yanks again. Lay down for us this weekend too, while you're at it.
  15. Yankees have runners on 2nd/3rd with 0 out in the 9th. Down 4-2. Come on, McGee.
  16. Cleveland leading 1-0 in the bottom of the 8th inning after winning the 1st game. They'll be tied with the Jays if their lead holds up. Ugh. At least the A's are freefalling. We'll need a few teams to crumble.
  17. Have to root for the Twins, White/Red Sox, and Tampa today/tonight.
  18. Hutchison for Castro is probably more realistic.
  19. Well, Alex traded Syndergaard and TDA for Dickey. Can't blame Theo for trying.
  20. Mariners get 2 runs back. Screw the Astros (and Rangers). Screw Texas, period.
  21. The Valencia trade did not add payroll. Kratz and Hendriks made more than Valencia alone. The Mayberry deal added salary but that may have been a combination of Esmil's salary being claimed by the Yankees with whatever else they saved (Deck trade, etc). Rogers did not add payroll beyond whatever it was in the off-season. The players have every right to be disappointed, especially when they were passing a collection plate around to sign Santana in the off-season.
  22. Shields would be foolish to turn down the one year deal with four team options that Alex will offer him.
  23. That would be the ideal situation (Lind's platoon partner being a good defensive OF or IF). I don't think JMJ fits that description though. JMJ can only hit LHP and can't play defense. He's Lind that can hit lefties.
  24. Alex started Goins at 2B. I don't think he is beyond starting Pillar in LF, unfortunately. If they could re-sign Melky and use Pillar as the 4th OF, that would be the best case.
  25. I'm not saying he is responsible for that record. Just didn't realize they've been that good when he starts. Calm down fellas.
