  1. They'll play Middlebroks at short, based on what they did with their OF. That's one team that gives no shits about defense.
  2. Marcus Stroman for Dan Duquette. Steal.
  3. Myers playing CF. Yeah, that doesn't have disaster written all over it at all.
  4. It would have been cool if Steamer was an actual name. Like, Steamer Jones, or something.
  5. Dave Stewart - the overvalue® Randall Delgado - the target. Make it happen, AA.
  6. It would be nice if the Jays got someone like RJ Alvarez in return for Navarro. I'm not holding my breath, though.
  7. Extending Romero and Morrow before he had to turned out to be a disaster for AA.
  8. AA mentioning interest in a free agent outright is pretty rare. He could have tap danced around the question like he does for every other question he is asked but he didn't. Hopefully that means it's close to happening. I don't want Izturis/Goins starting at 2B.
  9. I think the issue here is that AA did all of his off-season moves in a span of like a week in November, and some fans are taking the subsequent inactivity as him not doing anything. He added one of the best players in baseball for far less than it should have taken, added an elite catcher/framer in free agency, traded for a long-term 2B option with six years of control who Steamer thinks can be a league average hitter already, and traded for an OF who might be able to outproduce Melky for $11M less annually. I agree the team needs another starter, and at least one reliever, but it's only December, and every team is going to have a hole here and there. At the end of the day, AA added wins, and that's really all he can do.
  10. Delabar has four years of control left and was a very good reliever prior to 2014. He makes next to nothing next season. I'm not sure why he can't be a pen option. Drabek is another one with four years of control left and can be pretty much filed under "failed starter" now, so give him a chance as well. I know that's hoping for a lot of good things to happen, but they are reasonable gambles to take.
  11. Capuano gets 1 year, $5 million from the Yankees. The pitching market is not cheap this winter. Sanchez in the rotation seems like a pretty safe bet at this point.
  12. Morrow's best chance to succeed as a starter is in San Diego so smart move by him. I still think he's a reliever at this point in his career, though.
  13. Since AA is said to have interest in Beckham seemingly every off-season, I'm expecting it to happen eventually.
  14. Come on AA, bring in Toritani.
  15. No one is going to take Reyes at 3/70 left on his deal. Maybe trade him for Colon and then agree to eat another $20M the next two years, and the Mets might do it, but that's about it. The only other team is the Yankees but they got their SS now.
  16. Janssen's arm is held together with glue. The Jays got his best years. I don't want the Jays to be the team that is paying him $4M when his arm gives out.
  17. Drabek is out of options and AA seems determined not to lose anyone on waivers pretty much every year. What are the odds that he makes the pen out of Spring Training? I don't have any faith in him at this point but he was the centerpiece of the Halladay deal so there may be extra motivation to hope he pans out as a reliever.
  18. I wouldn't worry about him blocking Travis. He can always become a utility IF once Travis is ready, and Reyes will miss time eventually so he can cover short too. I know nothing about this guy but I'll take your word on it. I'm down as long as it's not going to prevent some bullpen acquisitions.
  19. Someone must have mentioned Josh Donaldson's name. Last time that happened it lead to an intense talk about sex and infidelity, so I'm blaming him for this.
  20. Wouldn't it be easier to just bring Kawasaki back? Is this guy significantly better than what we could expect from Muni? He will cost at least three times more.
  21. Friedman's Dodgers with that front office and unlimited money is going to be a monster.
  22. If Dave Stewart likes Reyes and wants to trade for him, he'd be my new favorite GM.
  23. Agreed. If ~1 WAR relievers are getting $6M a year, then sign a 3 WAR starter for $13M per and put Sanchez in the pen. It might hurt Sanchez's development, but you either want to win in 2015 or half-ass it. That decision is up to them.
  24. Delgado pitched a lot better in relief last season (61.1 IP, 46 H, 28 BB, 78 K, 5 HR). A young reliever with four more years of control and potential to be a high leverage reliever to pair with Cecil would be a great get for Navarro. Not sure the D-Backs would do it, but AA's been doing some crazy things in the past month, so who knows.
  25. Yeah, Lester is going to go back to Boston. I don't know why he is dragging it out for so long. It's not a mystery. Maybe just trying to extract an extra couple of mil. If he goes to the Cubs, I'd be shocked.
