  1. God damnit Gibbons, take him out!!!!
  2. Glad Gibbons used Biagini in a 9-1 game yesterday so they could use this POS in extra innings instead.
  3. God damnit Morales. What a waste of $2m.
  4. Morales is s***, but this goes just as much on the offense. They can't score at all in these extra inning games unless the runs are gifted (Padres).
  5. On my phone it looked like he knew it was gone, but yeah, he was probably seeing where it landed.
  6. Tulo admires his home run and then gets drilled later in the game. Did it look intentional? Haven't seen it, just saw the Tulo HR.
  7. Gibbons has at least 9 more pitches to play with (100 pitches > how a pitcher looks) so Sanchez starting the 8th wouldn't surprise me.
  8. Saunders in LF, Pillar in CF, Reddick in RF, Bautista at DH, Upton 4th OF, Carrera gone? That's the only way that lineup would make sense, but Reddick seems a bit unnecessary right now. If he was signed beyond 2016, then absolutely. But as a rental, it would seem pointless unless an OF was going the other way.
  9. Yankees are getting Tyler Clippard, according to Heyman.
  10. Just as nice as the win and 1st place is beating up trash Gallardo. Feels good man.
  11. Seriously, not being able to score off Gallardo has pissed me off since last season. Just have one big inning. That's all I ask.
  12. Man, the Jays hitters lose brain cells when Gallardo pitches. Swinging 3-0 at a guy who can't throw strikes and Donaldson behind you. I know it's Bautista batting, but geez.
  13. Travis not vetrin enough to bat higher in the order. Needs to pay dem dues.
  14. At some point the Jays are due to mash this guy. THey have no problem getting base runners but can't cash in.
  15. Gallardo will look like s*** all day but after 5, the Jays will only have 1 run. That ugly bastard is Houdini against us.
  16. Yes, Upton starting over Smoak is an upgrade. It might take Gibbons a few times to implement on a semi-permanent basis, but it will happen eventually. Smoak is not good, and if he's upset about being benched I'm sure he'll wipe his tears on his completely unnecessary contract extension. He'll be fine. Upton in the OF full-time and just alternate DH between Bautista and Saunders. Start Smoak when Edwin needs a rest.
  17. I want the Jays payroll to be as high as it can be, but that doesn't guarantee anything. A payroll increase and then putting the money into the right areas is more important. Payroll is only such a big deal here because the Jays have sucked/been mediocre for so long. A smart front office can work around $150mm.
  18. That's basically it. They don't need a payroll increase to improve the team, they need it to improve the organization. That comes with signing Cuban/Japanese FA's, or improving the farm system, or having available cash to add talent when necessary during the season, etc. Increasing payroll so they can afford Bautista, or whatever narrative the casual fans want to go with, won't accomplish anything positive for the org. The Jays have smart people working in their front office. They can win with the payroll where it is now. If Rogers increases it, then great, but I don't think it's a prerequisite.
  19. Is a LOOGY really necessary? I know Gibbons still manages like it's 1985 so a LOOGY might be needed to match his managerial style, but just get a RP who can get guys out period and hope the nimrod uses him properly.
  20. A Dickey/Thole trade would be better, but I'll settle for Kratz over Thole (it has to be at least a noticeable defensive upgrade if nothing else).
  21. I hope Bautista has a great last two months of the season (and hopefully playoffs) but in a way his season has been very fitting. There was so much optimism heading into Spring Training this year and Bautista starts the spring off by ripping ownership, talking about wanting 5/150, talking about how he can defy aging, etc, causing a distraction for no reason. On the flip side, Edwin expressed interest in staying but left it up to whatever happens. Fast forward four months, and Edwin's having a great season with the bat while Bautista has a lower WAR than Melvin Upton while not being able to defend his position or stay on the field. Keeping it classy is the way to go, and Bautista has found that out the hard way.
  22. Since this thread was created, Dickey has allowed 17 earned runs, 9 walks, and 6 home runs in 14.2 innings. To answer the title of this thread, let's not.
  23. On Friday, Gibbons should rest Donaldson, Bautista, and Edwin so that they are fresh for Saturday's game.
  24. Benching everyone and starting Dickey on 3 days rest so he could avoid Baltimore is pretty much the definition of punting a game. I don't blame them, Dickey starting against Baltimore would have been a massacre in front of what should be 3 sellout crowds. Eating up innings and being average is all well and good, but I can't wait until Dickey is gone.
