  1. At least the Jays won't lose by a run now with Tepera in. Don't know why this bum is put into a one run game, but Gibby gon Gibby.
  2. I remember reading that if Gibbons warms someone up he likes to use them rather than warm them up for nothing, so probably brought him in because it was a "save situation" prior to the Edwin HR and he was ready.
  3. Fiers really has 3 strike outs. The 4 on Smoak and Upton should not count.
  4. Yeah, I was fine with acquiring Upton, but he's been worse than even his Atlanta Braves days since being acquired. And not even in a bad luck sort of way. He's been straight up ass offensively. I miss Carrera, never thought I'd say that.
  5. In Spring training, Edwin goes about his job quietly, says nothing to the press about his contract other than he won't negotiate mid-season, and it was never brought up again. He ends up having a great season and will get a big contract from someone. Bautista does the exact opposite, creates a distraction for no reason, says there won't be a negotiation as he told the club his number already (5/150), and he proceeds to have two DL stints, a bad season (by his standards), and a meme that will last a lifetime of him getting punched in the face. This is why you keep quiet, Jose.
  6. Gibbons didn't even want to give Pompey an at bat last September. Atkins is doing the team and Pompey a favor by keeping him down. No sense wasting perfectly valuable days of big league service to see him sit on the bench while Upton, Carrera, etc, play over him.
  7. Upton is Gibby's Colabello.
  8. That's going to be quite a chore with the roster the Jays have now. The farm will organically get better as players move up, but it probably won't be in time to take advantage of the Donaldson years. They'll have to really make some killer off-season moves to win in 2017 without JB, EE, and MS.
  9. That inning was on Tulo more than the others. Smoak sucks against lefties and Saunders has the split disadvantage. Tulo swung at a high pitch out of the zone on the first f***ing pitch after a walk and couldn't score a run. Buzzkill.
  10. Wasted a great chance there. Had Smyly on the ropes. Why couldn't Bautista have one more great season in him before he bounced???
  11. $150m over five years. Good luck, Bautista.
  12. Opposing teams just have to throw a s***** lefty out there and the Jays bats will look like garbage. Don't know how a team so right handed can struggle this much against lefties.
  13. Bringing Cordero in a game because of vetrin presentz > bringing Ryan Tepera in to face Manny Machado in a close game. Being loyal to vets is at least something you can rationalize, even though it's moronic when the vet is no longer good. But making bonehead moves that make no sense is a Gibbons staple. I will give Gibby credit as he does not abuse pitch counts and young players have been able to develop under his watch, but that's the only positives I can think of. He manages on gut rather than match ups. He's basically Ned Yost. He won a title so maybe there's hope.
  14. As the leader of the anti-Gibbons movement, I agree with that ranking, and I didn't even read the reasoning behind it.
  15. Dickey and Liriano both in the rotation is going to be aggravating when they are not on.
  16. Ceciliani is starting tonight and so is Upton. Saunders at DH.
  17. If they are having this much internal struggle with Sanchez's innings this year, magnify that by a million for Osuna. It's not happening. Plus, Shapiro looks at WPA based on his interview with Bobcat and Osuna is 4th in all of baseball for pitchers. He might be happy with Osuna in the pen.
  18. Tillman, Gausman, Bundy, and Miley is good enough with their offense and bullpen. Those bastards are like the Giants as far as their evened year success (minus the rings). The Red Sox are probably more likely to fall off than Baltimore.
  19. I agree but some people still think it's a possibility.
  20. Stroman threw 166 innings in 2014 and it was almost entirely as a starter (that relief stint was really necessary for two weeks). Sanchez was covered in bubble wrap for years by AA and so he's never had a full season as a starter. I think 100 IP is the most he's pitched out of the rotation, and he's on the verge of doubling that, which is why it's such a huge deal for the front office. Those of you expecting Osuna to start will get the same rude awakening.
  21. Read his stuff. He's a white Stephen A. Smith, except a bit more subdued.
  22. Man, I just saw Jose Bautista's numbers on the season. Yuck. Why isn't he getting more flack? He's been awful this year and it's already August. I know he's been hurt, but damn. Enters spring training with his chest puffed out, causes a distraction for no reason by saying he wants 5/150 and that he's not budging from that number, bashes ownership, talks about how he's so great, and how he'll defy aging, etc, etc. Since then, he's played like ass offensively and defensively, gotten hurt, and became a meme for the rest of his career by being punched in the face. I wish he had a 5 WAR season this year and then rode off into the sunset, but he almost had this coming by the way he acted in Feb/March.
  23. Keith Law is the definition of a douchebag. Perfect fit for the type of s*** ESPN likes to promote as "expert analysis".
  24. Between Smoak and Colabello, the Jays have been below replacement level at 1b all season. Play Upton and hope to hell he starts to hit while you can rotate DH around JB, EE, Donaldson, and Saunders. That's a better option than Smoak at first right now.
