    Yeah I was hoping we would see Chapman and Miller pitching 2-3 innings each tomorrow night, but that won't be happening with Chapman most likely. Well, they could try, but he may not be as effective. Game 7 has lined up pretty well for Francona. Maddon better hope Lester has a Mad Bum game 7 in him tomorrow night.

    Even Gibbons would have taken Chapman out in this situation. Maddon's out of his mind.

    Nope. It would make the game a lot better, but considering MLB hasn't done s*** to fix crooked umpiring already (look at the home plate ump tonight in the freakin World Series) I doubt they even think it's an issue.

    There are a bunch of 1B/DH/LF types in free agency. Giving the QO to Saunders would be stupid.

    A Moss/Upton platoon in LF seems solid enough. Cheaper than Reddick, at least.

    Yeah Puig makes sense. He's young and has a couple of cheap years of control left.

    Carerra made the team in 2016 because he had no options. I don't see the point in carrying both him and Upton. If both are on the opening day roster next year then one of them is probably starting, and that wouldn't be good to put it mildly.

    Bautista on a 1 or 2 year deal would be fine with me. Just stick him at DH. Anything beyond that would be less appealing.

    I had the Indians winning this series before it started, and nothing has changed my mind. They are playing about as flawless baseball as you will find.

    If AA was the GM, I could see this (Votto) happening. I can't see Shapiro/Atkins doing it. Contract is too long and Votto is only going to get worse, not better. Inciarte is a good target, but he'll cost a lot, probably more than the Jays are comfortable trading.

    Yep that's how I'd do it as well. They shouldn't have to rebuild unless things really hit the shits next season. Just keep improving the big league club without hurting the farm system, and if the drafting/developing goes well, then they'll be able to start incorporating young talent into the lineup eventually. Easier said than done but it's doable with some shrewed moves and luck.

    Damn is the farm really as good as Baseball America seems to think (or at least John Manuel)? It would be great if it is since this regime will actually hold onto them rather than trade them but top 10 seems pretty aggressive/bullish.

    If Pompey has options remaining (and I think he should have one left), then he will probably in AAA next season if he isn't traded. If they projected his defence to make up for his bat then I'm assuming they would have played him more, but even that isn't a lock. He could end up being a good player eventually but I don't see any possible way they can pencil him in to a corner spot before the season. He regressed in 2016.

    If Bautista comes back for one year I suspect it will be after he rejects the QO, tests the market, and sees no offers worth taking. I doubt his ego will allow him to accept the QO, and maybe he will get a 3-4 year offer somewhere else. Looking at the alternatives, JB back for one year would be a pretty solid development if it happens.

    I hope you guys are right about Bruce, but just saying I could see a scenario where he's a trade target. One year of control and shouldn't cost much to acquire. Man I want the off season to start already. Let's hear about the damn moves.

    The front office seems to like him though. I could see the Mets dumping him for very little in return. Not the player I'd go after but wouldn't shock me if the Jays got him.

    Man, I could see the Jays going after Bruce. If the Mets are smart they'd value Conforto more anyway. But yeah if the Jays get Bruce he better not touch the field on defence.

    Trade for Dyson, platoon him with Upton. Yeah that's not great offence but overall value would probably be a huge surplus.

    Just a throw in the dark guess, but I'll say the payroll will be $160m. Anything less than that with the contracts currently on the team and either they'll have to take a step back, or try to make a lateral move by sending a big contract in a trade (Tulo or Martin). I can't see payroll being lower than 2016. That makes no sense.

    Well, Desmond signed a one year deal because no team wanted to lose a pick for him, so he didn't have the options that Fowler has, but I'll give you that. I guess my point is, unless the player is on board, it's pointless to say "well he just has to shift over". Some players may not mind, while others might. It's not as simple as "he's not Mike Trout, Jesus, so he will do what we say, dammit!". Fowler has options and can find a job playing his natural position. Unless the Jays overpay him, I think it's fair to say he'd value the CF jobs more than the LF/RF jobs.

    There's one, although was any team willing to keep him at short? Dude was awful defensively. Fowler actually graded out positively on defence the past two seasons surprisingly.

    It doesn't matter if RF and CF are both in the OF. If Fowler has played CF his entire career and has other teams willing to play him in CF, then what incentive does he have to sign with the Jays unless they overpay him? These guys aren't f***ing robots. You won't find many FA's, at least good ones, who change positions upon signing with a new team (except for ancient hitters who DH to extend their careers).

    In other words you have no answer. Jays should sign Chapman and make him a long reliever/spot starter. As long as he gets paid he won't care.

    How many top free agents that aren't ancient sign with a team and immediately change positions? Im guessing the list isn't very long.
