  1. Gibbons wouldn't put him at DH and bat him clean up, so that's a major advantage he has over Fatty.
  2. So is any other source even hinting at this being true?
  3. Shapiro said he'd never do a player option so that won't be happening. If this is true then I hope the 3rd year is a team option but I doubt it would.
  4. Will have to see it to believe. Not buying it until Kenny Ken or Heyman or another reliable source mentions it. But yeah, three years is too long. Would rather have Fowler for four than Bats for three. A two year deal would be better.
  5. Iannetta would be a nice back up catcher.
  6. I think Davidi mentioned it, but might be speculation on his part.
  7. If the payroll is going to be around 160m, then they can't afford Fowler and Bautista, unless one or both take far less than they are expected to get. Might be one or the other.
  8. Yeah the fact that they are even circling back to Bautista tells me that they don't see Fowler signing with them. Getting the younger, better defensive player seems like a no brainer, but if it's not an option, then you have to go with the best of what's left. Joey might be it. But yeah, seeing him in RF again would be painful.
  9. This might signal that Fowler is a no go and Joey might be the best/affordable option.
  10. I don't mind Joey Bats as long as it's short term. Might mean they sense Fowler isn't happening.
  11. If the offers are close, he'll likely choose the Cards.
  12. Eaton in RF, Fowler in LF, and go cheap on the pen. I'm down.
  13. Time to steal Adam Eaton.
  14. Moncada better turn into a f***ing star.
  15. Man that sucks. I had the Sox pegged as East favorites anyway but this pretty much seals it for them.
  16. I don't think there's any chance Fowler gets that much. A year ago no one wanted to lose a pick for him. He's raised his stock since then but I doubt he's raised it to the point where teams will want to grossly overpay and lose a pick. Picks might actually be more valuable now with the CBA eliminating first round compensation after this year. He might come around at 4/60 in time. Or maybe he gets a better deal elsewhere. Whether the Jays wait for him to decide is a different story.
  17. If they sign Fowler, I don't think they will have enough money to get anyone else based on what some in the media are projecting the payroll to be. Might be Fowler and then Upton, Pompey, and Carrera fighting it out for the other OF spot. Of course, if they add Fowler and then trade for my man Dyson, then that would fit into the budget just fine (keeping the Dyson dream alive).
  18. The key to Fowler's value over four years with the Jays is how he handles defence in left or right. If he's above average and his bat remains above average, then he's probably worth 4/72 even factoring decline as he gets older. Like I said I don't think he's a big fan of signing with the Jays unless he gets paid more than anyone else is willing to give him, so it depends on how much Shatkins likes him.
  19. For the past three seasons, Pearce's wRC+ against RHP have been 142 ('14), 107 ('15), and 118 ('16). The notion that he is a platoon player is ridiculous. He's a big league starting position player at first base. He just hasn't had a full season's worth of AB's either because of injury or not being given a chance. Start the man at 1B, try to keep him healthy, and soak in dat WAR.
  20. With Pearce and Morales on the roster, I'd be disappointed if they spent a big chunk of what they have left on Edwin at this point. Just move on and try to improve the outfield.
  21. Yeah I don't think Fowler is high on the Jays especially given he will have to move positions. Unless they overpay him, he's probably trying to leverage a better deal from another team.
  22. Jays offer to Fowler was around 4/60 according to Heyman. Fowler wants $18m a year. How high will the Jays go?
  23. That's an agent realizing he screwed over his client.
  24. God damn the Sportsnet comments section is a cesspool.
  25. Kill joy. That depresses me because I know you're right.
