  1. If they sign Fowler, then I think going cheap with Carrera/Upton is a real possibility. Jays really need two OF's with Upton as the 4th of.
  2. Pearce with 500 plate appearances would be a beast. Give him an everyday role.
  3. Fowler, Dyson, and Pearce would be a sweet off-season. Step one with Pearce. Two more to go.
  4. f*** a platoon, Pearce can start at 1B. Justin Smoak can EAD.
  5. Signing Moreland only makes sense if Smoak is traded or released. Having both on the roster would be awful.
  6. The process will change over the next five years so that when Papi is voted in, no one will throw a stink about it.
  7. Dyson's projected arb salary is $2.5m by mlbtr. Getting him would give the Jays a ton of money to improve elsewhere as well. I have wanted the Jays to get him for 3 years now. The Royals did not use him as much as they should have.
  8. Dyson in a platoon with Upton would be great value. If you add Fowler and Dyson, that's a huge improvement. Don't know what it would cost but it might be the cheapest 3 WAR available.
  9. Yes. 100 times yes.
  10. Bautista might come back to the Jays, but I think the door has closed on Edwin. They gave him a good offer, he turned it down, and the Jays moved on. s*** happens.
  11. I don't watch it, but that wasn't my point.
  12. Man I hope the front office stops these guys from playing in the WBC. Does anyone even remember the results days after it happens? It's meaningless.
  13. Cot's has listed Morales' yearly salary totals at 10-11-12 and Guirrel's as 0.6-1-1.5-2.5-3.5-4.5-5.4 (with $3m signing bonus). Don't remember reading those breakdowns anywhere else so not sure how accurate it is.
  14. - Punched in the face/became a meme for life - Worst offensive season since breakout - Terrible defence - Two DL stints Damn, not a good look after that rant, Jose.
  15. Only reason I wouldn't want him back even at a reduced cost is they'd put him in RF. That man is a DH now, or a 1B if he's open to it. If they put him there, and the cost makes sense, then go for it.
  16. That's what I meant, first round picks. Losing a 3rd or 5th round pick really isn't that big of a deal. Or at least not as big of a deal as a 1st rounder.
  17. This will make free agents desirable to more teams since it eliminates losing a pick (a big deterrent for many teams), so it will come down to who offers the most money as always, but likely more suitors. Helps the players a lot.
  18. Yeah the rules were not going to take into effect this winter since the QO was already offered and two players accepted. Wouldn't be fair to change it now. So nothing changes on the Jays end, and they'll still lose a pick if they sign Fowler.
  19. If someone offered him 5/115, then he would have said yes the moment he heard it. No sane GM is going to come close to matching that.
  20. Jon Heyman ‏@JonHeyman 13s14 seconds ago No international draft, but int'l signings are said to be capped to 5-6M per team per year. Jon Morosi ‏@jonmorosi 17s17 seconds ago . @MLB teams will no longer forfeit first-round pick to sign free agents under new CBA, source says.
  21. Sign Fowler and Pearce, trade for Granderson, sign a reliever. Not sure how much that will cost, but would put the Jays in a good spot.
  22. Fowler + Granderson in the OF would be pretty darn good.
  23. True, but for some players, the position matters. If he wants to play CF, and there are similar offers out there (maybe just a bit lower, for example) from teams that will play him at CF, then it might require an overpay to get him. The Jays may have to really separate themselves from the next highest bidders in order to get him IF position matters to him (and I don't know whether it does or not). He'd be smart to move to LF or RF, it should improve his defence in theory, but whether he wants to is a different story. An extra year would surely seal the deal, but no way I want Fowler on a five year deal.
  24. I'd agree with you if the Jays weren't going to get two picks from losing Bautista and Encarnacion. He's probably not a player you lose a pick for, but with two extra picks, and an impending OF of Pompey, Upton, and Carrera, with a s***** as hell free agent market, I'd probably make an exception.
