Price was a monster in his two months in Toronto, but would they have missed the playoffs entirely without that deal? I think at worst they would have been a WC team with the Yankees winning the division.
If Norris breaks out, then yes, it will be painful. At least with Tulo they get 5 years of him (for better or worse). Two months of Price for a SP with six years of control left is a bit less justifiable to me. The Jays were .500 at the time of the trade, and while they were definitely underachieving, it's not like they were the Cubs of 2016 that were running away with the division. They were 7 games back with two months to go. It was a huge risk that paid off short-term.
