  1. If Cistulli has any say in this draft then we might as well have a Jays uniform custom made for Max Schrock.
  2. This has Shatkins written all over it. One year on control, innings eater, probably won't take much, trade chip in July.
  3. Yeah I wouldn't take that chance. If teams are unwilling to go above 2 years for Happ, then I don't see why they'd trade assets for him six months from now and be obligated to pay the 3rd year they didn't want to give him now. The Jays got $65m of value out of a 3/36 free agent signing and turned that into six years of McKinney and four years of Drury. Not a fan of that trade, but ultimately that was a win. No sense trying to get more out of Happ when the window of contention isn't there anymore and he's more likely to decline this time around.
  4. Man, fans hoping for Brantley or any other mid tier free agent are setting themselves up for disappointment.
  5. Happ could get the same years from a contender and not have to think about being traded. I don't see any reason why he'd choose the Jays unless they either decided to try to win in 2019 or if they gave him a NTC, which definitely wasn't going to happen.
  6. The problem with signing Happ is it would be horrible optics to sign him and then flip him. The team is rebuilding, so they will go after the 1-2 year deals where they can easily move the player if demand is there. Shapiro doesn't like free agency and definitely doesn't want to trade prospects. Seems like this team will be built almost entirely off their own drafting and development, plus whoever else they can trade for. Happ wouldn't fit that.
  7. Give Gurriel every chance to develop into something at that position in 2019, and then either way roll with Bichette in 2020. The Jays really need to add a primary back up infielder though. I sure as hell hope it is not Urena.
  8. If Tulo agrees to a position change somewhere else then he can EAD. Entitled based on what he was half a decade ago while here but flexible somewhere else? F him.
  9. If Beane didn’t lose his mind in 2014, then AA would be an assistant somewhere right now, best case. Thanks for JD and Vlad. That’s about it.
  10. I don’t think anyone from the org has stated Paulino will be a reliever. It made sense to use him out of the pen in Sept since he missed almost the entire season to that point. I’d expect him to start next year unless his health forces him to be a reliever.
  11. Or opening up a spot for the rule 5. The 40 man roster spot opening up for 2019 and 2020 is pretty valuable.
  12. Martin is going to be traded with cash eaten up as well (most likely). Surprised Rogers is okay with this. I guess it's mostly sunk cost anyway, and in Martin's case they should save a little bit.
  13. Last two off seasons it seemed like no one was getting paid. I'm liking the bigger money being thrown around now. Players deserve it and it is good for the game.
  14. Does the $38m count against 2019 payroll? Not sure how that works. If it's off the 2020 books, then that is huge. Even more payroll room next year.
  15. 3/50 for Cutch. Players getting paid again. MLBPA should be happy.
  16. Andujar is a first basemen playing third. If he's the center piece in getting 3 years of Thor, then yeah, that's pretty damn lopsided.
  17. Cashman gets elite talent while giving up nothing. That's been the case for years and I still don't know why.
  18. Trade Sanchez to the Braves for Gohara. AA had a man crush on Sanchez, and Gohara's stock has dropped a bit while Atlanta has a billion other pitching prospects.
  19. Apparently, Happ will sign with any team willing to give him three years. No one has so far.
  20. Tim Beckham was non tendered. He was bad in 2018 but there is a whole laundry list of players I’d rather see as a utility infielder rather than Urena so he seems intriguing for that reason.
  21. Solarte non tendered. Everyone else tendered.
  22. Hmmm, hire a goober to be the GM, and he makes s***** moves (or about to). Never saw that coming.
  23. Shatkins has been targeting ready or near ready prospects lately. I’d guess maybe a C+/B- prospect who another team has no room for that can be a realistic call up in 2019. Maybe a fringe five guy.
  24. I could see the Astros trading for Stroman. Fits their timeline and with their cheating....I mean player development ways Stro would likely take a huge step forward. But yeah I'd hold on to Stro at this rate if teams view him as a buy low option.
