Well, you guys said you wanted depth....

Yeah no one can deny how much value he brought from 2015-18. He was a key member of those playoff teams and great surplus value for the team. If the Jays wanted to win in 2019, then you hold on to him, but clearly they give no F's about 2019, so this was the only solution. Wish him all the best though. Him and his hot wife.

Offer that to Vlad and he'd laugh in their faces. Acuna either has a bad agent or came from nothing and wanted to get the cash right away.

Now they need to trade Smoak so Hernandez can DH, McKinney can start in LF, and Tellez can go to 1B.

But two options so pretty much all of his 20’s for $124 million. If he went to arb every year then he would have been a free agent at age 27. I think he definitely lost money here. But $100 mil is $100 mil. No way Vlad signs a deal like that. He will bet on himself and assuming he stays healthy will get $200-300 mil easy if he’s as good as everyone projects.

Pillar was a good player for the Jays, but are people seriously thinking he was necessary to keep around? He is a 1-2 war player in his 30's in an era where those types of players have trouble getting deals. Plus the team is rebuilding and probably tanking for a top pick (they have made no effort at all to win) so what good is Pillar on the squad even for depth purposes? If Jonathan Davis and Pompey (if he ever gets healthy) end up with a shitload of AB's, then so be it. 2019 means nothing to Shatkins.

For what the Jays are trying to do, De Paula > Pillar. Jays were probably not going to get a better prospect than that. 2 win players in their 30's have trouble getting big league deals nowadays. This definitely hurts depth, but Shatkins doesn't care about wins, so they'll just plug whoever is available when they need to.

Elite players still get paid in MLB. Acuna probably cost himself at least a hundred million, if not more by signing this. He could have made $50-60m just in arb, and then hit free agency in his mid 20's.

Law and Hanson are probably s***, but De Paula might have some potential.

Pillar trade official! Jays getting Hanson, Law, and DePaula. Never thought I’d see this day.

Ten Straight Balls s***ing the bed, followed by Gurriel ending the game looking like crap. Tercet somewhere loving life.

Drury back to the Yankees for prospects (once he heats up).

Is Elvis making an appearance in the 9th or Gaviglio for one more?
  15. glory
Orioles trying to out tank Shatkins. Your plan is not going to work, boys.
  16. glory
I hope Shatkins doesn't F around and delay Bichette for service time reasons. If he's hitting well in AAA by mid season call his ass up. I don't know how much of this I can watch, and it's only 5 games in. Even the wins have been boring.
  17. glory
Young, Taylor, and Stevenson on the same team is going to be fun to watch.
  18. glory
Man I knew the lineup was going to be mediocre this year but damn. Jays basically getting no hit through 5 innings every game. If they ever face an opener, they'll probably get no hit for real.
  19. glory
Why was Gaviglio taken out after 8 pitches? Not very Rays like, Charlie.
  20. glory
Harper's HR and aftermath was awesome. Great moment.
  21. glory
If the Jays were in the Central, they'd win the division.
  22. glory
6-0 is not a big enough lead to bring in Elvis. I'm serious.
  23. glory
Yeah the pen is probably going to be trash behind Giles, and the rotation is iffy as well. Gonna be a long season, but that's what rebuilding is.

Hudson’s been s*** for a couple of years so not surprising.

Damn this game sucks. At least it’s going by quickly.
