  1. Cashman is in love with Corbin so I think they might be out on Happ (or view him as a backup plan), but who knows.
  2. If Cashman traded Aledmys Diaz he would have gotten a top 50 prospect in return plus a couple of spare parts. Never trade with Brian Cashman.
  3. Sheffield, Swanson, and Don Thompson-Williams for Paxton.
  4. Sheffield is one of the players going to Seattle.
  5. https://www.fangraphs.com/blogs/astros-and-jays-both-win-diaz-thornton-deal/ Longenhagen's take on the deal.
  6. Yeah Eovaldi is going to get too many years and dollars to be worth the injury risk, especially after his playoff run.
  7. I think that's my stance on this deal. Don't mind trading Diaz but value wise it looks like the Jays got less than they should have, and are left with some questionable infield options because of it.
  8. Atkins going full on TrackMan.
  9. We went from not caring if Tulo plays again to hoping to god he’s healthy because Gurriel probably isn’t a SS and Urena can’t defend anywhere.
  10. Wall is in AA and wasn’t that good there. He seems like a safe guy to not protect. Pitchers that are big league ready (Thornton, Waguespack, etc) seem more likely to be taken. I think they’ll protect Thornton. What this tells me is Urena is probably going to end up the utility infielder. No spot for him in AAA and now a spot opens up in the majors.
  11. He has to be added on according to Twitter. Can’t imagine they’d risk him going through the Rule 5. If he doesn’t have to be added on, then that’s one benefit.
  12. He’s coming off a much better season offensively and defensively now than he did a year ago. This move also doesn’t even fix the 40 man roster glut. Thornton might end up being good but I don’t think their values were anywhere close to each other right now. That might change a year from now of course.
  13. I know nothing about this guy so I won’t say it’s good or bad because I honestly have no idea, but definitely seems light. Diaz has four years of control left and is probably the best SS on the team right now. I guess Travis, Gurriel, and Drury will be the IF to start the year.
  14. Bad deal for Boston. Everyone knows Pearce is only good in even numbered years. Should have gotten a 2nd year option.
  15. Happ was clearly fixed by Searage, but yes the others are purely speculative. I'll trust Shatkins here as if they wanted another pitching coach they would have gotten one, but I would have liked a change there. Hopefully they move Rivera to first base coach and hire a third base coach who wouldn't send Kendrys Morales home from 2nd on a hard hit single to left.
  16. Happ was fixed by Searage, and Sanchez has only had one good year in his entire pro career. Estrada is a point in Walker's favor. Walker will be dealing with a bunch of young pitchers in '19 so maybe we will get a better idea this coming year.
  17. I remember when we traded for Santiago Espinal, it felt the only thing ever written about him was a Fringe Five piece. Could barely find anything else. Have no idea what this adds to the front office, but definitely enjoyed reading his work.
  18. Yeah not sure why Walker is staying. Not like the Jays have had a great deal of success developing pitchers since he's been here. I think he's signed through 2019 anyway so maybe they'll replace him next year.
  19. https://www.sportsnet.ca/baseball/mlb/blue-jays-promoting-guillermo-martinez-new-hitting-coach/ Guillermo Martinez is the new hitting coach.
  20. We didn't have OF options period. Pompey was always hurt. Alford was in AA in '17 and then struggled in '18. Smith Jr is an org guy. The only OF options on the team now aside from those three were acquired from outside the org (Grichuk, Teoscar, McKinney). Hell for a while Zeke was our best OF in 2017. Things still aren't that great for the OF but much better than it used to be. Moving Pillar now should be easier. Slide Grichuk over and we're good.
  21. Pitching prospects suck, and Jansen is already projected to be a good player as early as next year. No reason to move him.
  22. Yeah unless Shatkins thinks he is going to go Justin Smoak 2017 on the league next year, I really did not like that trade. I'm rooting for Drury and McUpton only because I want to stick it to the Yankees. Otherwise not a fan of either one but hoping they prove me wrong.
  23. This is the type of trade that would make sense. Chen gives the Jays a bottom of rotation option (or long man) and Tulo would probably agree to the trade just so he can play SS on grass. All Atkins has to say is "you won't be starting at short" and I'm sure he'll waive his NTC to play anywhere.
  24. There’s no way Drury is the long term 3b even if he hits well for 3 weeks before Vlad comes up so unless they plan to use him primarily at 2b I’m not sure where the fit is. Maybe 1B if he actually learns how to hit? Having guys who can play multiple spots is a luxury but they have to hit enough.
  25. Even with a smart front office it will take at least five years for the O’s to be good again. s***** mlb team, s***** farm system, and ignored international market for years. They are pretty much starting from nothing.
