  1. Yeah I meant offensively, but I think I'd rather see if Hernandez's defence is fixable than to acquire Duvall.
  2. We already have Duvall. His name is Teoscar.
  3. Saw a video the other day where Trollosi was interviewing Atkins, and when asked about Vlad’s arrival time, Atkins said he thinks they can field a good infield already while only mentioning Drury, Gurriel, and Diaz by name. It was only after specifically being asked about Tulo that Atkins even talked about him. I think the Jays will move on somehow. I don’t think they have any interest in playing him.
  4. Vlad for Bryant? Basically seven years of control (minus a few weeks) with two of those years being dirt cheap versus three really expensive years of Bryant who is six years older? Outrage. Lots of it.
  5. Santana is a high obp 2-3 war player. Maybe he’s on a reasonable contract rather than a surplus value contract, but would certainly be an upgrade on Morales, and would also open up DH should they move Smoak as well. Definitely agree that it would be pointless for wins and losses, unless the Jays can take a step forward in 2019/20. If they plan a strict rebuild and lower payroll by a s*** ton, then yes it wouldn’t make sense. But value in versus value out, it would be a clear upgrade and add wins.
  6. Angel Perdomo has signed with the Brewers. I completely forgot he was even on the Jays for so many years, but the team clearly did not want to put him on the 40 man, so he's gone now.
  7. I was thinking just do a straight 7 year deal. With no extension he will be a free agent after 2025, but he'll miss the first few weeks of 2019. A 7 year deal means he's still a free agent after 2025, but can start the season in the bigs. Jays get cost certainty instead of year to year arb, and Vlad enters free agency the same year he would have without the extension. I like the team options idea better but not sure he would go for that.
  8. I didn't want to put trade proposals on the Around thread, but I guess there isn't much else to talk about. So....Morales ($12m) for Santana ($35m). Phils save $23m and can dump Morales (or use him off the bench), while the Jays get a 2 win improvement and stop gap at 1b/dh. Santana coming off a down BABIP year (.233) but drew a s*** ton of walks and still displayed his normal power. Seems like a good buy low candidate.
  9. Glad to see some love for Hector Perez. He was 21/22 years old in 2018 and held his own in AA. Disappointed that his GB rate didn't follow him to Toronto but it is small sample size. A Sp who can K that many batters and have a GB rate near 50% is damn good. Just find some control young man.
  10. Or Pillar to Cleveland for Yandy and then have Hudgens work on his swing plane/launch angle to stop hitting so many damn GB's.

  12. A lot of teams need catchers. Martin might be able to fetch a decent prospect (with the jays eating up a ton of his salary).
  13. Much like any trade the Rays make they'll find a way to turn Zunino into Mike Piazza for at least one year while Smith fades into oblivion.
  14. Definitely good news since the Astros org is big on launch angle which Shatkins definitely likes. Although he's bench coach and not hitting coach?
  15. Drury is not good enough to cater to. Defensively he’s been better at 2b and no way he plays 3b over Vlad after a few weeks in April. Put him at 2b after Vlad comes up, whether he likes it or not.
  16. Bryce can get more than 10/300 with no opt outs.
  17. It wouldn't shock me if Shatkins wanted to move Stro. He's a gamer but if he annoys fans with his antics I'm sure the front office is aware of it too. But yeah, seems like a really bad time to move him, unless they get an offer worthy of the 2014-17 version of Stro, not 2018.
  18. McCullers TJS. If you don’t mind seeing Stroman turn into prime Pedro with their cheating ass ways, trading him to the Astros might make sense now.
  19. The NBA has a trade deadline and then right after that a bunch of good players are bought out and sign with contending teams for nothing. How is that any different? That’s actually worse because teams are stacking themselves without having to give up assets, but no one complains about that. No one is suggesting they add a deadline, just that’s there’s no harm in what they have in place.
  20. Sanchez and Smoak for Gray and something. Smoak is instantly an upgrade at 1B for them, while Sanchez either becomes a buy low rotation option or reliever for them. Jays get three years of control on a good starter who might benefit from a change of scenery. Use the money saved to sign Kikuchi.

DeRozan was a ISO dominant high usage mid range shooter who couldn't shoot 3's or play defense. He's a dinosaur (no pun intended) in today's game. Replacing him with a 3+D in Green alone was an upgrade. Add Kawhi on top of that, and it's unfair.
  22. What harm does the 2nd deadline have, though? Either a player passes through waivers or he doesn't. Once in a while you will see a big trade (Verlander) but for the most part it's bit pieces changing teams. Not a big deal. I don't mind if they got rid of it, but I don't see why it would be a big deal to begin with.
  23. What's wrong with the waiver deadline? I mean I don't mind extending the main trade deadline, but the waiver deadline is harmless.
