There is literally only one knock on Tanaka, and it's the partial UCL tear. He checks every other box for the Jays. Dependable, can pitch in the AL East, can be in a playoff rotation, etc. The issue with the non Bauer FA market is that it's riddled with risk, whether it's injury, performance, or both. If Tanaka can be had on a 1-2 year deal, then I don't see any other non Bauer options that look any better/less risky.
