Re-checking the PECOTA ranking as of March 13th:
Jays are not picked to lose 90 games or finish last.. they're expected to be a .500 team and 4th, with Baltimore projected to finish last because of a questionable bullpen and a lack of OBP. Of course, they could move up if the Yankees continue to have question marks regarding Sabathia (reduced velocity), Kuroda (age related regression), and Nova (although some of that may be more due to the terrible Yankees defense in the infield). And of course, Tanaka and Pineda are wild cards..
BTW, regarding Sabathia, in his last start, was hitting just 85-86 MPH on the gun, going as high as 88 MPH. If this continues into the season, the Yanks will end up with a albatross of a contract, as Sabathia would basically be a worse version of Mark Buehrle.. except Buehrle has never had the velocity Sabathia did.
Tampa's the favorite, BTW, with Boston 2nd, and the Yanks missing the playoffs a 2nd straight year.
