  1. And groaning too after Parnell blew a save and the bullpen lost the game for the Mets, losing 9-5 after being up 5-4 in the top of the 9th..
  2. BTW, update on the Phils: 13-8 Phils. Both pitching coaches better update their resume..
  3. Wilson Ramos gets hurt AGAIN: http://www.washingtonpost.com/blogs/nationals-journal/wp/2014/03/31/wilson-ramos-left-season-opener-with-broken-bone-in-left-hand/
  4. That Wil Myers is on a roll so far.. 2-2 with 2 RBIs.
  5. Wow, Tanner Scheppers looks awful as a starter. Good thing Colby Lewis is due back at week's end.
  6. Good start to the season for the Padres. As for the Dodgers, they really need some offense. Having no Kemp really hurts.
  7. Yes. I remember when Seth Smith had all those hits in the 2007 playoffs when they went to the World Series (and lost to the Red Sox. BTW, Morales is the 5th starter again for the Rockies.)
  8. Well, the Dodgers sure blew that inning.. how are they gonna explain Brian Wilson's implosion tonight?
  9. Dodgers offense has been so pathetic tonight: 2-5 hitters: 0-14, 1BB, 4Ks. And you wonder why they only have 1 run.. and Crawford's not helping with his 3Ks either.
  10. Is anyone as tired of the "hand sandwich" commercial for Wonder Bread than I am? They seem to show it a lot lately..
  11. They gave Brian Wilson $10M for this? Especially against a punchless team like the Padres. And the offense isn't exactly lighting it up either. Kemp needs to come back soon..
  12. Well, with Tampa averaging 18,646 for a winning team.. that's not a good sign.
  13. With the St. Pete economy the way it is, numbers near Expos territory would be a strong possibility. Remember, even when winning, the Rays had many games with attendance in the low 10,000s (and even one in the 9000s) last year.
  14. Which will be very attractive to many teams, when the Rays are forced to trade him due to financial constraints or MLB's 29 other owners pulling the plug on the Rays, feeling that Tampa will never be able to sustain itself financially without revenue sharing. Look, I don't see Longoria staying in Tampa, especially as his salary starts to rise next season, if attendance doesn't increase this season. At their current payroll, one bad season will guarantee a fire sale, similar to the Marlins in 2012.
  15. Try after this season. Price is a goner, as is Zobrist and Loney(heavily back-loaded deal, likely meaning a trade will happen). And if no progress on a stadium is made by this season, Longoria is likely gone as well. And Cobb will likely be dealt after Price, as he hits arbitration after this season. The franchise is basically all-in this season. Any failure will mean a huge fire sale after this season, if not sooner if they struggle. Sternberg's not going to continue to support the franchise if attendance doesn't improve, a new stadium doesn't get built, or the team struggles. Rays payroll is at $76.7M this year. With 10 arb players next year and options on Zobrist and Escobar, the team would have been smarter to trade David Price during this offseason instead of holding onto him and risking future payroll flexibility if the attendance doesn't improve or a new stadium doesn't get planned.
  16. His BABIP was .342 last year, and considering the average is .300, he's expected to regress. Most of his value is more due to his defense. In addition, his spring numbers have shown an increased K rate and lower average. Indians would have been better off waiting until there was more certainty that he'll continue to hit. With Carlos Santana at 3B now and no decent catching prospects in the minors, the Indians are going to sink or swim depending on Gomes.
  17. Another reason for Montreal to get a team.. even if it's not an East team: http://www.cbssports.com/mlb/eye-on-baseball/24506314/oco-coliseum-already-dealing-with-sewage-flooding Since San Jose seems out of the question, and Portland/Las Vegas/San Antonio are not options, and Vancouver doesn't have a MLB appropriate stadium.. Also forgot to mention the A's are only tied to Oakland until 2015.. although with the stadium's issues, it could be sooner..
  18. If they do that, they should do it vs. the Rays, Royals or A's.
  19. Hey, the Habs sent Youppi over! But I can see the Habs jersey under the Expos jersey..
  20. Have you even seen the Trop? It's ranked by many as the worst stadium or next to the O.co as the worst stadiums in baseball. And attendances back in 1994 all around baseball were lower than they are now, so those numbers have to be adjusted for inflation, population growth, increased fanbase, etc. What hurt Montreal was bad ownership. Today, they wouldn't have this problem as much, as there are owners committed to get a team in Montreal.
  21. Here's another reason the Rays need to move to Montreal: "The seats will be covered with tarps, part of the reason the Trop's capacity this year will drop from about 34,000 to about 31,000. On the other hand, if the Rays make it to the playoffs, the tarps could come off." http://www.tampabay.com/news/humaninterest/tampa-bay-rays-unveil-new-360-degree-walkway-around-tropicana-field/2172378 The investment would be nice.. but they really need a new stadium. This is basically like putting lipstick on a pig. And the decreased capacity is a bad sign. And also, didn't Toronto already do this last year when they removed Windows?
