  1. I'll bet no team will take Happ if we DFA him.. we might actually be able to outright him to Buffalo. Not even Texas, who is SO banged up right now and needs a starter, among other things.
  2. If Happ keeps pitching like this, you might get your wish. The Jays are probably already leaning towards McGowan as we speak.. If you're wondering why Wandy Rodriguez is batting, it's due to Pittsburgh choosing not to use the DH, being a Spring Training game and needing to be ready to play games in the NL, where the pitcher bats.
  3. DFA Happ! He just doesn't have the stuff to get batters out. McGowan, Rogers and Redmond are more deserving of the 5th spot than he is.
  4. Nice! He's in a good position to get a spot instead of Happ, if the Jays decide so.
  5. Reyes is still a bit iffy on whether he'll be on the DL or not, as it will depend whether he gets back into game action before Spring Training ends. Hey, be glad we're not injury-decimated like the Rangers...
  6. Well, no score yet. And regarding the regulars rule, they likely mean players that will be on the MLB roster (Cabrera, EE, Kratz, Izturis, Goins). In addition, many of the regulars are back in Dunedin, not wanting to make the bus trip, which is normal during spring training.
  7. Yes he is. Scott Baker had a 1/7 K/BB ratio in spring training. No way we'll see him anytime soon.
  8. Two-time Blue Jay and former Expo Shawn Hill signed a minors contract with the Jays. Chris Iott ‏@Chris_Iott Shawn Hill (Mud Hens in 2013) has signed minor-league deal with the Blue Jays. Had been bound for York in independent league. They must need depth in Buffalo or New Hampshire.
  9. Rays depth took a hit: Jeff Passan ‏@JeffPassan Rays pitcher Alex Colome suspended 50 games for PEDs. Good thing they still have Karns, Romero(Enny) and Mike Montgomery still in AAA. However, another injury to the Rays MLB pitching staff though could be troublesome, however.
  10. Well, that'll mean he'll retire a Red Sox. Good move by them to keep him locked up long term, especially considering they can't afford to lose him, as he's the part of the lineup that makes the team contend. It's already bad enough they lost Ellsbury, as they couldn't afford to lose Ortiz as well. Next up, Jon Lester..
  11. Unlike the Rangers, the Blue Jays do have payroll flexibility coming in 2 years. Texas will be haunted by that Fielder, Choo, Harrison, and even Elvis Andrus' deal in the next few years, especially when they need a C, OF help, a 3B to replace Beltre, and a closer.
  12. Reyes is feeling better. No point in talking about Drew. Only way this happens is if AA doesn't want Goins at 2B.
  13. And if he suffers an injury that makes it difficult for him to play the OF, Choo's contract will be even worse.
  14. Unfortunately, yes. And Matt Harrison's contract should be added to the list too, due to his frequent injuries. And their catching is still a mess, as Alfaro is many years away.
  15. It may not matter, as Texas is looking at prospect Rougned Odor for 2B as well, but he hasn't played above A+ ball. Other options for Texas include: Brent Lillibridge Adam Rosales Kensuke Tanaka Josh Wilson Other options could appear as well by the end of spring training.
  16. At least $27.5M-$30M/year for Miguel Cabrera, likely a 3-5 year deal. Easy to think he could easily get up to $150M on a 5 year deal, being the best hitter in the game.
  17. Zero chance of either thing happening. Espinosa is expected to make the Nationals roster, and Texas doesn't have even a dime to throw to Stephen Drew, with the payroll at $131.44M. And the Tigers won't spend anymore money, as Illitch won't give another dime at the moment with his age and potential health concerns.
  18. Rangers REALLY need a 2B now. Profar is out 8-12 weeks with a muscle tear. Maybe they can take Maicer Izturis off our hands? http://www.cbssports.com/mlb/eye-on-baseball/24498015/rangers-jurickson-profar-out-up-to-4-months-with-torn-shoulder-muscle
  19. That's not an excuse this late in spring training, especially as pitchers are stretched out. Doubront's last two starts: 8 IP, 15 ER, 20H, 5BB, 8K, 3.125 WHIP Either his velocity is down, he has a dead arm, or is hiding an elbow or shoulder injury. I sense a potential DL stint coming for him.
  20. Felix Doubront for the Red Sox today: 4.1 IP, 10 H, 8 ER, 6Ks, 2 BB.. Something is not right with him.. has he been taking pitching lessons from Ricky Romero? Good thing Boston didn't trade any of their young starters.. this is concerning if you're in RSN(Red Sox Nation).
  21. Joe Maddon would've sent him to the bench for that bonehead of a baserunning blunder. But LAD has so little depth they can't do that.
  22. 1B is a more offensive position than 2B.. the Brewers have had none of that at 1B since Fielder went to Detroit. Overbay and Reynolds have won the 1B job there, BTW.
  23. I expect it. Either that or them signing Stephen Drew instead of giving guys like Dean Anna or Yangervis Solarte a shot to fill in while Brendan Ryan is on the DL. With Jeter struggling badly this spring, I expect the Yanks to start looking at Drew again..
  24. Nice scoop by Prado! And that Dodgers lineup outside of Puig, AGon and HanRam is pretty ugly..
