  1. Well, keep in mind cricket fields are usually pretty hard. And Montreal will likely be using the same turf Tampa and Toronto use...
  2. Goldy! BTW, the ground at SCG is pretty similar to playing at the Rogers Centre and Tropicana Field.. both hard and fast for balls.
  3. Nice throw by Pollock! Ethier should've stayed at 1st.
  4. What happened to Cahill? He used to be one of Oakland's elite pitchers.. good thing Billy Beane got a good return (although only Ryan Cook is healthy, because Parker had TJS, Cowgill is with the LAA.)
  5. SCG's pretty nice as a baseball park. Of course, they have to re-convert it back to cricket after this game..
  6. Well, they will have Crawford back by Sunday Night Baseball on 3/30... Kemp won't be back until 4/3 at the earliest.
  7. Yes. It's bad enough they complain that we didn't add a pitcher this offseason, but none of the options were actually impressive at all outside of Tanaka, who's unproven.
  8. Agreed. We have better uses for $14M.
  9. Juan Francisco, the former 3B for the Braves and Brewers has been DFA'd: Todd RosiakVerified account ‏@Todd_Rosiak Further clarity could come at first base later today, as it appears Juan Francisco's locker has been packed up in the Maryvale clubhouse.
  10. At least we have Stroman and Sanchez on the way by May or June, if Morrow doesn't cut it. We just couldn't risk handing $14M to an oft-injured pitcher who hasn't been healthy since 2010. Could be worse, as San Diego was REALLY hoping for Josh Johnson to be healthy, especially considering they hope to contend this year, before Headley leaves via free agency.
  11. Sorry, I forgot to mention his 6+ ERA, 1.66 WHIP, and his frequent injuries. Still, any of our pitchers on the team are better than Josh Johnson.
  12. Now we know why AA wouldn't give JJ a qualifying offer. He just can't be trusted to stay healthy. It's shocking that our young guys such as Stroman and Sanchez, Redmond, Rogers and even McGowan will actually make our team better by replacing Johnson on the roster. Any of our pitchers can do better than the 2-8 we got from JJ.
  13. Better hope Kershaw pitches a shutout.. the Dodgers are going to be hard pressed to score runs with that lineup. I mean, Justin Turner? Scott Van Slyke? Where's Kemp, Crawford, and a decent 2B?
  14. It is a mess in Detroit. Look at their depth chart after Verlander, Scherzer, Sanchez, Smyly and Porcello: LHP Kyle Lobstein LHP Casey Crosby RHP Drew VerHagen RHP Warwick Saupold LHP Robbie Ray And that's the AAA team..
  15. Well, the Tigers are dealing starting depth away in desperation for a SS: Jon MorosiVerified account ‏@jonmorosi Tigers acquire Andrew Romine for Jose Alvarez. Nice move for the Angels, especially with Blanton expected to be cut.. but that's an overpay for an out-of-options SS for the Tigers.
  16. ANOTHER blown elbow and Tommy John surgery, as Bruce Rondon, the Tigers' expected set-up man, is out for 2014. Chris Iott ‏@Chris_Iott Bruce Rondon to have Tommy John surgery. Porcello or Smyly for Janssen, Delabar or Santos?
  17. Update on PECOTA's... and the Yankees are facing a finish between 3rd and last at 82-80.. they're not a good team due to their pitching question marks. Any idea for the downgrade?
  18. Most likely because the Jays will have games without a DH when they play in the NL a few times during the season, since it's now throughout the year, not just May/June.
  19. And on only 7 pitches for Rogers.. he's probably ahead of Happ for the 5th spot now after his strong performance so far.
  20. Feed's a little behind.. but a 1-2-3 inning for Rogers! That'll help his hopes for either a rotation spot or a long relief role (more likely long relief).
  21. Buchanan(sp?) isn't really a prospect.. he doesn't strike many batters out, and yet he's getting a shot due to injuries.
  22. Beachy's headed for Tommy John surgery officially. I wonder who'll go under the knife next.. this is getting ridiculous.
  23. Especially with AJ Jimenez on the horizon by mid-season, providing he stays healthy, and hopefully a MUCH better catcher than the departed JP Arencibia.
  24. First, let's see how Syndergaard does in AAA before we make any further judgements. And I wonder if AA knew the d'Arnaud looked like he might actually be a bust due to injuries he's had in the past. Oh, and Sydergaard won't be a full-time regular until 2016 at the earliest, as he is on an innings limit, especially considering the issues the Mets have had with their young pitchers in recent years.
