  1. Zaun doesn't realize that Goins already has 187 PAs in the league already, and Goins, despite his glove, didn't deserve to keep a spot. He said that we should've given Goins 200-300 PAs.. we've pretty much done that already, and we know Goins can't hit.
  2. Jenkins could be cut too, as he has options. JA Happ or Esmil Rogers are possible cuts as well.
  3. Kansas City is supposed to get rain this week as well, but they should get the games in. Wednesday is a toss-up, though.. a double-header is a strong possibility on Thursday.
  4. Agreed.. the Yanks are going to cool off sooner or later, as their pitching isn't strong after Tanaka, and what about Pineda? Also note the Yankees haven't exactly had a strong schedule, which has included Houston, Boston (twice), our Jays, the hapless Cubs, and the Angels. A third of their wins so far has been on beating up Boston, which shows that the Red Sox are not playing well.
  5. He of the 8.02 ERA, 1.734 WHIP, 6.3 BB/9IP? No way. He'd get crushed in the MLB, especially in the AL East. Matt Andriese or Mike Montgomery are more likely options. And Enny Romero isn't polished enough yet.
  6. True. Rays took their depth for granted and went all-in by keeping Price and spending extra to retain Loney. Watch out for a fire sale at the deadline if the Rays continue to struggle.
  7. Depending what happens with the Rays/White Sox game tonight, Rays will have the most overworked pen in the majors.. and they don't have a Todd Redmond to eat innings.. they're going to burn out Leuke, Gomes, Bell and McGee soon if they can't get length from starters.. sounds as bad or worse than our Jays, especially considering Maddon hasn't had to deal with this since 2007.
  8. I didn't, as I went to Ripley's Aquarium before the game.
  9. Especially vs. Archer, and especially if the Red Sox OF continues to struggle. Bedard's a guaranteed loss.. Ramos is tough to call, because he's a converted reliever who's pitched OK as a starter so far.
  10. And Odorizzi fails to complete 5 innings.. poor timing, especially with a series vs. Boston coming up, which Boston could easily sweep with the Rays sending out Bedard, Archer and Ramos. They need Cobb and Hellickson back soon.. or their season could spiral out of control.
  11. WTF is with Sportsnet?? They promised a Rays/White Sox game tonight, instead they've replaced it with the Heat/Bobcats game...
  12. One more thing regarding Jackie Bradley Jr., he's the only regular on the Red Sox actually defending well, as several of their regulars in the OF and SS are costing them runs.. did you see Grady Sizemore in LF today, especially in the 7th? He was awful.
  13. A few observations, as I was at the game myself: 1. Why is Sierra still in the majors? Gose and Mastroianni are waiting in AAA, get one of them up here! It would allow us to stop using Bautista in CF. 2. We could've blown out the Red Sox more if Jackie Bradley Jr. hadn't kept robbing us of base hits left and right.. too bad the Red Sox outfield isn't hitting at all. 3. Bogaerts is still a little raw defensively. 4. Don't really miss the Pizza Pizza 7 K promotion.. their pizza isn't that great. 5. Dickey was nasty today. 6. The Red Sox pen was not.. Andrew Miller was not good today, and Badenhop is a gas can.. why is John Farell using him so much? Especially considering Capuano has become a shutdown reliever instead of the long man/spot starter he was supposed to be. 7. DFA Sierra!
  14. Jeff Passan wrote a piece about velocity dips: http://sports.yahoo.com/news/10-degrees--early-season-dip--rise-in-pitching-velocity-shouldn-t-be-ignored-005332330.html Some big names mentioned in there..
  15. This poll would be ok at the 50-game mark, but it's way too early, especially considering that most of the league is within 1-2 games of each other.
  16. Let's wait and see what they do against KC, Pittsburgh and Philly, 2 of which are awful teams, and KC just can't hit but can pitch.
  17. Extras in BAL. Boy, could Baltimore use Chris Davis right now... can't even get much off the Royals Guthrie and bullpen.
  18. Most likely Chris Davis' oblique strain will knock him out a month.. but really, without Davis, it means Markakis playing 1st, Nelson Cruz in the outfield, and weaker defense. Also, the O's have yet to put Davis on the DL, thinking it won't be serious enough.
  19. No kidding.. even on his own teammates! Luckily, the Brew Crew are winning 5-1 vs. the Cubs. Looks like they'll be 18-6! Who knew.. meanwhile the Dodgers, who were supposed to have a record like that, are a mediocre 13-11.
  20. KC-BAL is tied at 2, and boy does Baltimore's lineup look weaker with no Chris Davis. Hope that oblique doesn't knock him out too long..
  21. We had Ervin Santana within our grasp.. if it weren't for the Braves suffering so many injuries, Santana would be a Jay right now. Rogers didn't pull the plug. And really, there weren't a lot of good options. And we weren't blowing money on Cano, who is struggling in Seattle BTW. Some of this problem could be fixed by getting Stroman and maybe Nolin up here, DLing Morrow and moving McGowan to the pen.
  22. Just for interest, Jeremy Accardo, the former Jay, is pitching for the Long Island Ducks right now.. who also have former Twin and Oriole Lew Ford.. last time we saw Lew Ford was when the O's were last in the playoffs in 2012.
  23. If the Angels bullpen would stop blowing games, maybe they'd have a better record. Hey, at least we don't have the Dodgers pen, which is 2-8, blamed on Howell's struggles and Brian Wilson's beard. After these games so far today: Yanks 14-10, -9 run differential Orioles 11-11, -1 Red Sox 12-13, -9 Jays 11-13 -7 Rays 10-13 -2 Mediocrity galore..
  24. Frigging pitching.. can't anyone keep runs off the board?? 11-13.. they'd better fix it up for tomorrow, as I'm in attendance at the game tomorrow.
