  1. Oh boy.. that could be devastating for the Yankees, who have little depth beyond 4 of their starters (Tanaka, Pineda, and an aging/declining Kuroda & Sabathia). Warren and Phelps are needed in their thin bullpen, and Nuno got lit up in his last appearance (7ER vs. Baltimore last time, and hasn't pitched in 11 days. Why isn't he in AAA??). And don't ask for help in SWB.. most of their starters are minors vets like Billings, Gordon, Leroux, and non-prospects Cotham, Whitley and Stoneburner. Banuelos, BTW, is still rehabbing from TJS.
  2. True. Just doesn't make sense. Problem is, they'd have to DFA someone to get someone like Lillibridge or Rosales on the roster, and their farm isn't that strong in AAA.
  3. Rangers #4 prospect Luis Sardinas has been called up because of Jim Adduci going on the DL. But aren't they rushing him?
  4. Now 3 HBPs.. did Cabral watch Santos last night? And the umpire tossed him for hitting those batters.. expect a suspension to come.
  5. So much for the Rays struggling on offense..Rays lead 9-5 now, as the Yanks bullpen has choked away a lead, led by Adam Warren, David Phelps, and now Cesar Cabral, whose control has been awful, hitting Longoria and Loney. Oh, and Phelps got hurt on a line drive.
  6. Ouch. Especially against a VERY good Oakland team.
  7. Diaz has more versatility than Kawasaki. Plus, both Goins and Kawasaki are left-handed, and the Jays prefer Goins' D over Kawasaki, as he was frequently replaced for defensive purposes late in games.
  8. Cody Allen looks ineffective so far. Now let's blow this game wide open.
  9. The other Justin Miller(not the deceased former Jay) is making his MLB debut in mop-up duty with the Tigers.. the Angels are thrashing the Tigers 11-1. Luke Putkonen, who relieved a lousy Smyly, put up a terrible line: 2.0 IP, 5 H, 7ER, 2BB, 1 K, 2 HR by Kendrick and Pujols.
  10. Yes he can, as he played 3B in Milwaukee and Atlanta. But he'll probably be a DH/1B here.
  11. Happy trails to former Twin and Ray Jason Bartlett. He announced his retirement today. No biggie for the Twins.. he was garbage so far this season, and they have Nunez in AAA.
  12. Obvious candidate. And he can play 3rd too BTW, in case Lawrie needs a day off. Decent walk numbers, good HR power, low average, though..
  13. If that's not bad enough, the Yanks got the benefit of replay on Ichiro's sacrifice, which turned out to be a base hit.
  14. Bedard just gave up a 3-run double to Scott Sizemore. Guess the Yankees automatically win.. because the Rays offense is just pathetic.
  15. Billy Hamilton's swing in that GIF is the kind that gets someone demoted to AAA.
  16. Old Blue Jay and Ray Ryan Roberts has been DFAd. Boy, does Boston ever miss Middlebrooks..
  17. Carrasco has been terrible so far this year. You also forgot that Buehrle pitches Saturday.
  18. Understood. We were all frustrated. I almost wanted to throw something at the TV when the Jays kept walking batter after batter. I don't expect it to continue tonight, however. It won't be cold, as it's expected to be in the 50s tonight.
  19. By that I meant that Nyjer Morgan should be up here, because he was outplaying Bourn, but the Indians, like the Jays, want to carry 13 pitchers, and prefer to play the guy they gave 4/48 a year ago, thinking he'd continue the strong numbers he had in Atlanta. (Braves say thank you to the Indians for getting them Jason Hursh, who is on the fast track to Atlanta, as he is currently dominating in AA.
  20. Nope. Giambi's on the DL, and the Indians have no backup C with Santana playing 3rd (hurting too, BTW), and like the Jays, are carrying 8 relievers.
  21. Masterson's not that good. A FIP of 4.29 is not a good thing. Plus, considering his control issues, the Jays have a good shot to take advantage.
