  1. Good thing they have a wealth of young starters, especially considering Lester's free agency, Lackey not wanting to play for $500K in Boston, and Buchholz's Ricky Romero-itis. Still, whether those prospects become stars is another question.
  2. Good news.. Angels are coming back off of Gausman, now down only 4-3.. but frigging Trout, why didn't you hold up there?
  3. Lester to O's talk pretty dead: http://www.nydailynews.com/blogs/baseballinsider/sources-orioles-pursuing-red-sox-ace-jon-lester-blog-entry-1.1885872 UPDATED, 7:22pm The Orioles and Red Sox, engaged in talks on Lester this afternoon, no longer appear to be a trade fit, according to people briefed on the discussions. Though the teams were "definitely" talking, as one source put it, a deal was never close. The reason? The Orioles, who just received news that top pitching prospect Hunter Harvey will miss the rest of the year with an elbow injury, did not want to meet Boston's reasonable asking price by giving up additional top prospects for Lester. No way Baltimore makes a deal now when their depth is compromised.
  4. BTW, to people hyping Holt.. he has regressed quite a bit post-All Star Break. .191/.269/.234. Basically, he's a flash in the pan, and Boston needs to find a more suitable option at leadoff(Mookie Betts, possibly?), and move Holt back to the bench as a super-sub, as he was supposed to be.
  5. Bad Texas pitching and the ball carrying there. Yet the Yanks only got 1 run out of Lewis in the 1st inning despite loading the bases.
  6. Someone tell the Angels that they're supposed to be an elite team and shouldn't be getting clobbered by teams like the O's.
  7. And that lineup you suggest is the worst in the AL. Middlebrooks has been injury and strikeout prone, and falling out of Boston's plans. Cecchini has regressed significantly with the bat in AAA. Betts' future role is unclear. Also, Ortiz is going to be 39 in November, and has shown some decline with the bat. Holt is a flash in the pan, as he's regressed heavily post All-Star break (.191/.269/.234), and it's unsurprising Boston has lost 7 of their 8 games. The Red Sox are going have to seek another leadoff option soon, as the league has caught up to Holt. Victorino has injury issues, and Bogaerts, despite his power potential, isn't ready. Han-Ram, Cruz, Shields, Hardy will cost far beyond what Boston can afford, and are likely to get long-term deals that Boston wants to avoid, having been burned on the Crawford and A-Gone deals(only getting bailed out by the Dodgers saved them). And Hanley Ramirez is likely headed to 3B or DH soon, as his range at SS is awful. Hardy's likely headed for the Yankees or back to the Orioles, and Shields isn't really a fit for Fenway due to his HR tendencies. Masterson has regressed a lot.. lucky the Indians were even able to get anything for him. And it's said that Boston wants to avoid giving significant deals to pitchers over 30 because of what's happening in New York. And as for their prospects, it's hard to see whether they pan out.
  8. Boston needs more than just arms.. they need a lot of bats as well, as their offense is near the bottom of the AL, just ahead of Seattle. And outside of Scherzer, Lester and Shields, the remaining crop is a mixed bag. And it's questionable if Boston wants to spend a ton of money on pitching with so many young arms in their system, especially when they need bats.
  9. What about Owens, De La Rosa, Workman, Barnes, Ranaudo, Webster, etc.?
  10. Dan ConnollyVerified account ‏@danconnollysun Still hearing there's nothing hot on Lester and Orioles at all. Told by some it absolutely won't happen. Guess we'll know for sure in a day Looks like he's going elsewhere.. besides, why would Boston trade in division?
  11. Guess that means Lester's going elsewhere.. can't see the O's mortgaging the farm for 2 months of Lester.
  12. Maybe Oakland should've just taken Samardzija instead of taking Hammel as well..
  13. Pete AbrahamVerified account ‏@PeteAbe Told #RedSox in advanced talks with #Orioles regarding Lester but do have alternatives. Expect Lester to be traded elsewhere.. O's will NOT give up top prospects in any deal.
  14. O's will hang up on that deal fast. No way they give up either pitcher.
  15. Thanks. Besides, a deal isn't close, and is unlikely to happen now because Boston is demanding Gausman or Bundy in the deal.. that's as bad an idea as trading Stroman or Sanchez or Norris. FYI, the corresponding move for Workman is Felix Doubront, who was dealt to the Cubs for a PTBNL.
  16. Believe it or not, I wouldn't be surprised either if Colby is dealt. Gose has emerged in recent times as a OF, even with limited power, has plenty of speed and can actually take a walk once in a while.. Colby Rasmus hasn't been good this year, and getting rid of his 30% K rate and struggles to make contact would help, along with his defensive decline. Still, any trade should really net us a young OF as well to replace him.
  17. Dang Machado.. why can't we gain ground? Angels sure blew an opportunity to gain ground.
  18. Sorry about that. BTW, Scully's gonna be 88 next year. TBH, he could go for at least 1-2 more years.. Hey, Don Pardo of SNL is still going at 96...
  19. And 7 RBIs.. he's single-handedly trying to get the Rangers back in the game. Oh, and Betances is showing signs of running out of gas as well..
  20. Nice to hear. He'll likely do it until he dies or gets too ill to continue doing Dodgers games.
  21. Colby's bro Cory Rasmus gets out of a jam, keeping the game at 6.
  22. Eww Joe Buck ruining the play by play.. the Yanks/Rangers game is on Fox Sports 1 in the US. And the Yankees lead 10-4.
  23. O's/Angels still tied into the 11th. Keep blowing out that pen L.A... we want to see Baltimore embarassed on national TV tomorrow (game's on TSN and ESPN)
