  1. And Mets fans are likely demanding Alderson be fired after that..
  2. And the Mets look like idiots letting Carlos Gomez go elsewhere.
  3. Ackley is no longer a natural 2B. He's been playing OF in Seattle. Really questionable deal for the Yanks..
  4. Basically the Mariners dumping him. And surprisingly, they're getting a nice return in Ramon Flores and Jose A. Ramirez.. It's also a sign that the team's fed up with their other 2B options in Drew/Ryan/Pirela/Petit(who was DFAd)/Refsnyder/Figueroa. Questionable deal..
  5. Yes. Take 3/4 and the Jays could be in the 2nd wild card.. Twins have a tough set vs. the Mariners, and Minnesota has been the opposite of Philly post-All Star break, going 3-8. This is why the Jays made the Tulo and Price deals.. they see a wild card chance as a strong possibility, and they also see Tampa not likely to do much, and Baltimore not having the prospect depth to even consider making a deal without mortgaging part of the 25-man roster.
  6. A decision on Travis will be made tomorrow. As for EE, he's likely day-to-day.
  7. I don't mind this trade at all. Jays get an ace (finally), and are now likely the faves to win the 2nd wild card at minimum. And they still have a shot at the division too.. Yanks have lots of games left with teams that are chasing them (Rays, O's, Jays, and the godawful Red Sox). And unlike Baltimore, we have the depth to do it, whereas the O's don't (why do you think the Upton rumors have gone nowhere?) Because of this, it now looks likely the Yankees will do nothing at the deadline, as most of their targets (Hamels, Price) ended up on other clubs, because the Yanks refuse to give up top prospects as they are in a transition phase (their contention this season is a bonus, but it depends on A-Rod and Tex staying healthy.)
  8. Yes, apparently the Mets were scared off by the hip issue. But the Mets also embarassed themselves by leaving Flores out there when it was said he was traded..
  9. After the way the Gomez deal was handled, no team will likely trade with the Mets now unless they overpay. Don't expect them to be able to make a trade.
  10. And I thought the Marlins were a horrible organization.. who is running that circus in Flushing? They should be an elite club.. yet they continue to be a non-contending team that hasn't seen a playoff game since Carlos Delgado played for them (2006)
  11. Either that or Joel Sherman is a reporter of misinformation. ANd what's your bet the Mets don't do anything at the deadline? Especially considering they can't add money..
  12. Give them time.. when Tulo is helping the Jays win games, they won't be complaining as much.
  13. IIRC, the Mets can't even take on money right now due to ownership having to pay off debts from the Madoff scandal. Could be part of the reason why they blocked any trade for Carlos Gomez.
  14. Yes, he keeps deals secret.. and we end up with big deals like Donaldson and Tulowitzki. Now let's hope he has a secret deal for a pitcher coming that is really good and controllable..
  15. You don't realize that the Mets are under pressure by ownership to make the playoffs this year. Terry Collins is already on the firing watch, as is Alderson, as the team was supposed to contend by now with all the young pitching and young position players. Unfortunately, some certain ones (i.e. d'Arnaud, Lagares) keep getting hurt. They needed that Gomez deal.. Lagares has regressed badly this year offensively and defensively.
  16. This is the kind of thing that gets GMs fired.. this Mets team has to make the playoffs this year or else Alderson and Collins are out the door. Make that deal for Gomez!
  17. And regarding Peraza.. the Dodgers need a replacement 2B for next year, as they will see Kendrick leave via free agency, and is unlikely to return to the Dodgers, as ownership has already said that they will not raise payroll any further (team's at $212.8M for 2016 and in deep in repeater penalties). Young controllable talent needs to be developed.. including guys like Seager, Pederson, Urias, etc..
  18. That Dodgers team is not "stupid good." It's barely ahead of the Giants in the standings (and could fall behind them if they lose to the A's tonight.) And they still have the Cubs just behind them in the wild card. Pederson and Puig are slumping hard.. and it's dragging down the team. Post All-Star break, the Dodgers are a sub-500 team so far.
  19. At least Olivera will have a spot to play in Atlanta, likely at 3B. Now if they could move Chris Johnson.. As for Alex Wood, all his peripherals are heading south.. Braves probably know something about Wood, and probably dealt him before that bad thing happens (future arm trouble? Decreased velocity? Declining peripherals?)
  20. And they're facing the Tigers next.. no guarantees for the O's. After all, the Braves are a bad team..
  21. Unlikely. Orioles don't have the pieces to offer.
  22. Shut up. We're still waiting for them to even win one... they haven't been to the World Series since 1988. And that Dodgers team may not even make the playoffs.. the Giants are right on their tail.
  23. Jays win. 2 game gap now with the plunging Twins, who we will face after the Royals series.
  24. Well, the Red Sox are pretty much screwing up the trade market with their terrible play. But this winning streak isn't going to last.. beating the god-awful Red Sox is one thing, but can they do this against better teams?
