  1. Only the players with big egos care or need to be liked by the general fan base. In their position there are always going to be haters. Most of these guys have an entourage of friends, family, agents, etc. to love them regardless of what the fans think.
  2. Yes I will believe it when I see. If true and it works then cool beans.
  3. Apparently we are also in on Morales if we can trade Lind? Would be a good signing if we can unload Lind for some prospects (that could then be used in a trade for a SP or 2B). Looks like we will have only 2 picks in the draft, both in the top 10 lol
  4. What kind of deal would we give him? 3 yr 24 mil? I would have said 2 yr 16 mil but then why would he decline 1/16 QO for that. I would think he wants atleast 20-25 mil to make declining the QO worthwhile so it would need to be 3 years. Also, why can't we move Reyes to 2b? Does he hate 2b or something? Drew at SS would be worth more to us, maybe 10m/yr. At 2nd he is less valuable, maybe 8/yr.
  5. This makes alot of sense if we can also sign 1 or 2 of the SP. I don't think drew is worth the money and loss of pick, but if he is only a 3rd rounder or better yet 4th rounder then it wouldn't be so bad... This off season goes from epic fail to just epic if they sign Jimenez, Santana, and Drew this week. **Edit** Also add Baker to the mix.
  6. They could never find a good Platoon partner for Chris either, because Sgt Elias couldn't get along with that jerk Sgt. Barnes.
  7. I read your second sentence first and thought Bo Jackson had returned. Jeff Baker is ok too I guess.
  8. What if we put the hooters girls on the weighted ball program? Clearly that should address their arm strength.
  9. Are you saying that if all pitchers where hooters girls there would be less less line drives towards the pitchers? What is the fWAR on a hooters girl?
  10. Obviously Shulman back would be nice but ain't happening.
  11. The stats probably say yes, but I'll let someone else figure that out. But I say no, I don't trust the arm, the duct tape holding his arm on is about to fall off.
  12. Its not the right deal for the Jays though that doesn't mean it wont work out for the Yankees.
  13. Doesn't make sense at that money, would rather take my chances signing both Ubaldo and Garza. Might cost slightly more per year but would be shorter length and less risky (risk spread over 2 arms), with more upside and more IP.
  14. My sources tell me he is within days of making a decision and it will be a MLB team, tweet that.
  15. Maybe he did that on his own time without the publicity.
  16. That would be sweet, and we can pick up his option for next year.
  17. Likely a HoFer without the juice, averaged 7 war per year for his first 7 years in Pitt. The juice just pushed his numbers into legendary territory.
  18. Agreed, there is no reason to take on Mark Buehrle if you aren't willing to add some payroll for a FA that improves the team. Last offseason's moves didn't work out last year, but they did at least add some pieces ( 2 SP and a SS) that could help us win this year if we add a little more. If nothing happens it will be incredibly frustrating and essentially signal that those moves were made to sell some tickets for a year or two, not to compete, and will have cost us a ton of future assets. If you are going to make those kinds of going for it moves then go for it, since then AA has essentially sat on his hands. If the Jays suck again they better atleast start selling some of these assets, I hate the in between. Last year I can accept, they tried and failed but alteast they tried. They need to either accept they failed and sell or try again.
  19. Doesn't belong on a team trying to win right now, has potential but hasn't proved enough at even the minor league level. Wish we had another option year on him because if this team sucks again and they decide to blow it up he is the kind of guy you give at bats too after you trade away your real players.
  20. And with the same reasoning that is why I would put White above Moseby. Yes he only played 5 years but he was probably the 2nd most valuable player during that time frame on a team that won 2 WS, right there with Alomar.
  21. Yes but typically getting to the bullpen means you chased the SP out aka scored runs on him. Wanting to "get to the bullpen" is an indirect way of saying "lets score runs on the SP". What you are suggesting is that teams should want to score 0-1 runs in innings 1-7 so that the opposing manager leaves a tired SP for inning 8. I'd prefer to score more early as the opposing manager is more likely to leave struggling SP in, allowing you to score 3-4 runs before the bullpen is brought in versus the 8th where yes you might start roughing him up but his leash will be short and you might only get 1-2 runs before the fresh more effective arm is brought in.
  22. I had forgotten about Moseby (before my time), but no way I put him above White. But he probably does slot in above Wells. So I guess Wells is down to 3rd team All Jay.
  23. Wells is probably on the 2nd team of All-Time Jays at CF behind Devon White. White's 5 year stretch here was awesome, especially the first 3 years (91 to 93). Now if we actually resigned Rasmus and he was here for another 5-6 years, it'd be interested to see where he would stack up against Wells and White. The advantage Rasmus has over wells is that he doesn't have the pressure of being the go to guy on offense. Chances are they could put up similar offensive numbers and the perception of the two would be different.
  24. Actually we paid Joe $39 mil over 7 years for 8.4 WAR, Vernon $42 mil over 12 (includes 3 starter years with little AB) for 28.9 WAR. I would say Joe got rewarded quite handsomely for the two playoff runs he had and milked them for alot of overpaid years afterward, whereas Vernon was bargain. Since leaving the Jays Vernon has produced -0.1 WAR for about about $68 mil... and will make another $21 mil for nothing next year.
