  1. These relievers are the kinds of guys you could have gotten in the offseason for free without costing prospects. They are selling low on Groshans. I think everyone and their mother knew the BP was weak to start the season with a bunch of project players.
  2. Ya, seems realistic to have the Jays tie up 90m/yr to Soto/Vlad/Bichette on long term deals. They would just need a 220m+ payroll, were they on record saying they will go that high?
  3. Well in the offseason a lot of people for some reason liked the deal. The alternative, Matz, is having an even worse year.
  4. Romano will get this, but Montoyo needs to be replaced
  5. Makes no sense, now he has to use the closer for almost 2 innings. He just doesn't have a feel for the game.
  6. Ya no kidding, he always takes out guys on a roll and it backfires a lot. Ride the hot hand.
  7. Anyone know why Tapia wasn't bunting with no outs and a runner on third?
  8. Except what JD said wasn't. But we know MLB has gotten pretty woke so they did this because it's easier to give in than do what's right. The White Sox and Tim Anderson should be forced to apologize to JD for blowing this up and being softer than Charmin.
  9. Ryu deal is pretty bad. They could have used that money somewhere else.
  10. any decent relievers still not signed? Jays need an entire new bullpen.
  11. Judge wants 9/10 @ 36AAV. lol He's going to be a DH in his mid 30s, what's he thinking?
  12. Could be months. It drains you for a while, then he'll have to build up strength again. Wonder if he'll even pitch this year with the big club. His stock has dropped so much.
  13. Hopefully it didn't come down to carrying Collins over Bird. Bird at least can still swing his bat. He had some nice pop.
  14. Wouldn't mind Bryan Reynolds. Think he'll cost much less to acquire than Jram and provide good production and is younger/cheaper.
  15. If you got a DUI and worked for a private business, would you lose your job or get suspended? Why should the blue jays suspend him for something outside of work? It's not like he has sexual assault claims or something similar against him, in which case he would be in the NFL and not suspended, but just curious as to your reasoning? Also, slightly off topic but Canada needs to strengthen its laws for DUIs vehicular manslaughter. Just crazy that you can kill someone and get out in 4 years.
  16. Either way, the value of the deal is pretty solid for Boston. To have a projected 4 war player who can easily put up 5-6 if he rebounds, locked in for 23m is not bad at all.
  17. Would be nice to do Schwarber + Suzuki
  18. I would do like the Yankees and focus on a shorter deal for a 1B. FF is 32, he could fall off a cliff in a year or two quite easily. Rizzo was a 4-5war/yr player a couple of years ago. I would go for a Schwarber also over a huge deal to a 1B who is 32 that could end up being a disaster contract in the near future.
  19. I love it when teams not named the Jays get stuck with garbage contracts. But this one could end up being bad in most likely 2-3 years. 31 years old, his agent needs a medal for milking texas hard.
  20. How much fWAR did the Jays lose and how much did they gain so far?
  21. LA gave up a PTBNL for Danny Duffy who has arguably been the better pitcher this year.
  22. It doesn't matter, the package they gave up could have landed a #1 starter with a bit more team control. Sorry, really really bad trade. It will look even stupider if the Jays don't get that far this year or next. But, they have so many missing pieces still you don't go all in for a guy like Berrios.
  23. Yep, they could hopefully net a solid prospect for that package. This is obviously not even close to the year to go all in or keep trade chips. We happen to have 2 soon to be FAs performing very well, hopefully we don't waste that opportunity to get something for that.
  24. It's going to allow the Braves to be a top 8 team for quite a while.
  25. How would you rate our rotation now vs the top 5 teams in MLB? Are the jays thinking they still need 1 more year to tinker the lineup and not in win now mode this year? It just seems all the moves where we added #4-#5 pitchers have added payroll that could have otherwise went to a real #1/#2 starter.
