  1. I guess Alex didn't pass the hat around the classroom fast enough to get money to pay Headley's salary.
  2. Tolleson going on Paternity leave, so looks like Goins is a short term thing.
  3. AA is making it up as he goes along. Doesn't look like theres a real plan that they are sticking to. That said, every GM has to roll with the punches as the season progresses, so you make the best moves as you see fit at the time. Looks like he has decided to copy the Cardinals decisions with Rosenthal, Martinez, Wacha, and Miller. If it works out with these guys like it did with the Cardinals pitchers...we'd all take it.
  4. so Whether or not he deserved to be D'dFA , that not the MO for this front office, and it never has been. Big arm, great stuff relievers have always been AA's weakness, and he has almost ALWAYS sacrificed the hear and now to keep these guys on the roster for as long as possible. In absolute terms Rogers may not be cheap with the $137m payroll this year to its credit, but you cant say they're willing to do whatever it takes in terms of payrolll if the Elliot tweet was accurate. The Santos move is clearly a sign that the Elliot tweet is accurate, with AA going against anything he's ever done, and hoping to sacrifice Santos, to clear room in the payroll for another bat. When he talks about being creative, in terms of adding salary...this is exactly it. Its actually a smart move, if they it is money in = money out, but if it signifies that Rogers has indeed said Money in must = Money out...then we should be venting.
  5. Didn't mean to create a troll thread...nor a totally reactionary thread. But its a long time coming here.
  6. Christ this team. 1. Embarrassment vs the last place BoSox 2. Santos DFA 3. Rogers unwilling to add to payroll Christ this team.
  7. Can they clone Siddall?
  8. Thanks for posting. Nice article. If there were no cap, Lebron would be the first $50mil/year salaried player. Maybe $100mil/year? Would still be a bargain at $5.5mil / WAR
  9. The Platelet rich plasma injection is what Jesse Litsch had, and it went wrong somehow, which forced him to retire.
  10. Rogers had to let go the Jays training staff in March, when the first installment of the NHL contract became due. Jays players must go to Planned Parenthood now for their medical needs.
  11. Trumbo and Hill from the DBacks. Get it done.
  12. Trade him and Norris for a 38-yr old knuckleballer since we need an Ace. o wait.
  13. 25 man bullpen is the way to go.
  14. Actually, started a new thread because it sounded like a trade was forthcoming...looks like he just reached his 30-pitch limit they have, so he was pulled. Sorry...mods can delete if necessary.
  15. Ben Badler ‏@BenBadler 6m Wow. Blue Jays give Daniel Norris the hook two outs into the 1st inning. 91-94 mph but could not locate. A lot of scouts watching tonight.
  16. Seeing Giolito so high after same-draft-summer TJ surgery bodes well for Hoffman. Hopefully he is that high on the list come mid-season 2016.
  17. I am beginning to think that getting Rogers to free up money is more of an issue at this point than AA being not able to reach a deal on some of these players. I mean, things are obviously snowballing with the injuries, but this team wasnt really hitting before the Lind/Bautista and now Edwing...so you have to think AA has been trying hard for a while now to add to the team. I wonder if they have an agreement on a deal for a guy like Headley, but the hold up is getting SD to put in a few mil to cover the remainder of that contract. Even if its not Headley, specific...does anyone else think that adding to the payroll may be the issue, despite the denials from Beest/AA????
  18. Jon Morosi ‏@jonmorosi 1m Regarding leaked notes, Astros say “a portion of the material was embellished or completely fabricated.” FBI notified of breach.
  19. Seems unreal to me too. But we always hear GM's say things like every GM asks about X top prospect. I guess this is what we're seeing, even when we're talking about Marijuana Norris.
  20. What stood out to me is the ease with which Stroman was discussed. For Bud Norris? Jason Castro?
  21. They'd have to be blown away by a deal for Altuve. Even if he is playing at his peak, he's under contract until after the 2019 season, with a per season max of $6.5 mil. Team him up with Correia and Springer, and they are set up the middle until the next decade.
  22. Havent seen this posted anywhere here yet...pretty interesting. Involves some Jays tidbits http://deadspin.com/leaked-10-months-of-the-houston-astros-internal-trade-1597951970
  23. God help him if he strains his hamstring any further getting into the Boosterjuicemobile.
  24. They key is to add to the rotation, not replace a present piece. Thats why I always laugh when I hear about the Cubs asking for Stroman and/or Hutch in a deal for the Shark. Why would we give up 2 rotation pieces to get 1 back, when we're trying to ADD to our rotation. That being said. If getting Rogers to pony up more money to add pieces is going to be as hard in July as it was in Dec-March, and clearing Dickey's salary would help ease the burden, I'd do it. Its arguable, and I'm sure part of me is just reacting to Dickey's last start, but he's easily been outpitched by JA Happ, and is in effect the 5th starter now....getting rid of him could be addition by subtraction. Do we have confidence starting this guy in the playoffs? Against the Angels or Tigers' lineup? No thanks.
  25. If AA drinks a gallon of this, will it boost his ability to make a trade for Price and Zobrist?
